Though it would usually be a school d... View MoreAsuka considered herself lucky to have enough space on her porch for a swinging bench. It was nice to be able to enjoy the breeze, and gently rock back and forth. Though it would usually be a school day, Cyan wasn't exactly old enough for Pre-K yet, so while most of the other children on the street were at school, Cyan got to stay home, and play with his new toys in his front yard. His mother watching from the porch not far away of course. While Cyan is busy acting out a scene of a dinosaur policeman arresting a burglar, he gets a little extra immersion with the sound of sirens passing by on the main street just outside their subdivision. He marvels in awe at the sounds, and catches a brief glimpse of a Fire Engine, and an ambulance barreling down the street. It makes him quite giddy for a reason he can't understand. Screams. Blood. Sobbing. Panic. Asuka jolts from her swing, but manages to stop herself from moving afterwards. Her instincts are telling her to run to her ambulance, but she knows she can't do that anymore. She left that career behind years ago, but the instincts were still with her. She envisions a scene of a severely injured construction worker laying on a stretcher in front of her. His pained smile as he tells her his last words. As he asks her to tell his kids he loves them. When Asuka manages to come to, she realizes that she's hyperventilating. 'Remember the steps. Breath in. Count to 5. Breath out. Count to 3. Repeat.' Cyan turns back to excitedly tell his mother about the fire truck, and ambulance, but he stops when he notices that she seems to be frozen in place, breathing very fast. He quickly waddles his way to the porch, and up the steps before clamping on to her right foreleg. He struggles to form the words he means to say, but eventually, he manages to spill them out. "Mommy, are you okay?" This seems to get her attention, as she picks him up, and slowly sits back own on the swing. Cyan cuddles with his mother for a few minutes as she slowly begins to calm down. Afterwards, he decides to pick up his toys, and play inside for now. He always thought fire trucks, and ambulances were cool, but he knows they make his mother very scared sometimes, and he doesn't like it when she's scared. #rp

View MoreThey say that soldiers are born not during the graduation after basic training; but, under fire. The sense of real danger will immediately distinguish the courageous from the cowards. The courageous rely on their training and their battle buddies to survive, while the cowards desert their friends and live to embellish their stories to gain fame. Swift Orion, or commonly known as his alias, John Freeman, considers himself a coward for surviving when his friends did not. Though, he did not desert, losing the ones closes to him gave him survivors guilt, which quickly devolved into self-blame. Though, he has found help, his lack of skill in conversation prevents him from revealing his stories. Swift managed to survive battles in the freezing cold of Yakyakistan and in the withering heat of the Badlands. The insurgents he fought seem to have made bases in every corner of the world. Naturally, in extreme weather and a determined enemy, Swift would lose some friends. Shaking his head to pull himself out from another pit of anguish, Swift begins to return to the task at hand. "My friend told me to relax for the weekend and to stop working. Which is confusing since efficiency comes from diligence." He muses to himself, "In a battle, if you lose your guard once, you could get you and your soldiers killed. I can't imagine it being different from the civilian world." The green stallion pays little attention to the ambulance as he walks besides houses. His eyes catches something that perked his interest, however, when his gaze falls onto the colt playing with toys. "What does it feel like to have no worries? That, instead of relying on yourself and other soldiers, you're relying on your parents to protect you." John wonders to himself in silence before he turns to the mare, who he assumes is the mother, and a few questions that suddenly occurred to him just as he notices her hyperventilating. "Excuse me, ma'am, are you okay? Did something happen?" He asks as he turns to scan the area for any danger. It concerned him that someone is presumably attacking the mare and her child. With his blank stare, he turns back to her, "Did someone attack you?" Of course, this idiotic display is from the lack of interactions with ponies outside of the workplace and military. Little did he know the traumas the mare is facing herself.
