View More// #rp open to anyhorse, provided you can get past the small dissertation of a start uwu Amnesia is nothing like how it's portrayed in the movies. While perhaps simple in concept, the feat of regaining one's lost memories is not the impactful, beautiful moment that you're made to expect; there is no binary "remember" switch, no detective-like sleuthing, and certainly no sudden clairvoyance or unexpected, serendipitous resolution. Just a terrifyingly vague drip-feed of fragmented recollection. The changeling had a solid grip on a couple of things about herself. There's things you tend to hold on to, even when your psyche is tirelessly working to make you forget. Her favorite restaurant is a diner chain called Shiny's. It wasn't particularly special. Despite the long walk to find the joint, the changeling couldn't help but notice just how banal the family diner was, peering into her reflection in the glass storefront. The evening sky behind her was still lit, but only barely. A half dozen or so patrons minded their own business inside, a few heads turning to briefly regard the bugpony with the 1000-yard stare. She wasn't going to put it off any longer. Someone in there had to know who she was. They could help her remember – or at least take a shot at guessing her name, right? There weren't many ponies who looked like her in Canterlot, after all. She pushed the glass door open and entered, taking in the neo-retro decorations, and the aromas of cheaply-prepared pony food. The jukebox played a song that the bugpony didn't recognize, and a table of patrons buzzed with laughter and jovial conversation. The strangers remained largely focused on themselves, tolerating the changeling's presence the same as everyone did. Once seated near the edge of the restaurant, the nigh-penniless bugpony simply orders a coffee, instructing the waiter to "ruin it" when asked how she takes it. A mug sat before her soon enough, but goes untouched. She didn't want or need the caffeine. The bug-mare was wired already, intent on escaping the cyclical nightmare that her waking life had become. Another few minutes pass before the mare heaves out a sigh of submittal. An emerald aura of magic surrounds the mug handle, and she brings the cup to her muzzle as the realization sets in. This place, like all of the rest, would never restore her memory, no matter how much time she spent sitting alone in reminiscence. The part that killed her was that she could be anyone in this diner. With no more effort than the simple flash of a spell, she could choose any one of these half dozen faces, all with their own names and personas and lives to call their own... and take it for herself. But, who would want that? To have the only thing you can truly call 'yours' stripped from you was to be erased. But then, she noticed another patron dining alone. More specifically, she'd noticed the food sitting largely untouched on their table. "Hey. Psst. You. Yeah, you, with the half an omelette left on your plate. Uh. I hate to be this way, but..." She trails off, unsure of what to do with this stranger's attention, now that she had it. "... you gonna eat that?"
