I've also been getting notifs for a group (I'm not the admin however). I think email preferences might have reset since it was for Sasha (someone I hadn't even logged on with for quite some time).

I am the Owner of the group and have gone through the settings. I've turned off Group notifications for Email notifications, and that is the only thing I see in the settings related to notifications.

So it turns out the widely broadcast notifications were added by phpFox in the most recent update without an obvious way to disable them. I'll see what I can do about it.
