An athletic earth pony through and through, Bombora is a powerful swimmer and is in excellent form. Adorned with a shark tooth necklace, small earrings and a sprawling tattoo--the lifeguard holds himself to a high standard wherever he goes. Born the sole earth pony from a union between a unicorn and pegasus, Bombora was a jealous and frustrated child. Friends and family attended the School for Gifted Unicorns and flew above the clouds of Cloudsdale, Bombora was firmly stuck in the mud. Increased introversion took it's toll on the young colt, as he desperately worried about his lot in life.One day at the beach Bombora was picked up by his sister and carried over the ocean waves--scaring Bombora into wiggling out of her hooves and falling into the salty seawater below. He would have nearly drowned had it not been for a huge wave carrying him to the shore the moment his lungs filled with water. Bombora hacked and coughed the liquids out of his system, and smiled. The colt had nearly died but the water itself pushed him back to the surface on its own volition. He was destined for something! The ocean would not allow him to submerge in despair, not yet. The earth pony changed. He practiced swimming day after day until it too became like breathing. Eventually, ponies began to notice the fruits of his efforts, his skill, his endurance, his body... everything was coming together. Yes, he'd be a hero! Everybody would look at the swimmer and think, 'I want to be just like him!' Ponies would drown on purpose just to get his attention. Bombora became so enamored with the idea, he hadn't even noticed the lifeguard ring on his hip.Now working at a chain of pools and shores across the coast of Equestria, Bombora is more inclined to show off during his saves to bolster his image instead of actually worrying about the safety of patrons on his beaches. His dark path had turned into one of self-enlightenment and bettering himself despite his perceived disadvantages. Still, he comes off a bit as a stereotypical jock, bullying the weak for not wanting to be like him... but only because he sees a bit of himself in most ponies he comes across. While Bombora may be big-headed and selfish, he genuinely makes an effort every day on the job and the sheer number of his saves from channeling his self image almost make up for his attitude problems.
