Eclipse was born in the Northern part of Equestria. His Early life wasn't that notable. Due to many jobs he undertook to try and make a living, he found it quite difficult to really be happy doing any of them. He took up the task of wandering and taking jobs that were in need in any town he would travel by. This went from a mail courier to assisting in mapping out dangerous landscapes.
