Unlike most unicorns and Alicorns, Opaline's horn is long, curved, and sharp at the tip, similar to King Sombra's and Mistmane's.

Opaline is a selfish, vile, greedy, cruel, cunning, vain, prideful, arrogant, ruthless and extremely power-hungry individual who hates the idea of unity and equality. She feels entitled to all magic, believing it all to be rightfully hers, and also believes that ponies should fear and love the Alicorn species, which she believes are meant to rule Equestria as the only magical ponies.

Alicorn queen

Opaline's Dark Castle

She is a self-proclaimed "Alicorn queen" who seeks to take all of Equestria's magic and rule over all ponykind, using her servant Misty as a spy.

Opaline may have been born an alicorn or became one later in life, but she possessed at least her horn during ancient Equestrian times. In a confrontation with Fluttershy, she implied that she was a unicorn and had not shown wings; this suggests that she could have either been born a unicorn or an alicorn. Her flashback in the episode Sunny Side Up reveals she was an alicorn since she was a filly, the same as Princess Celestia and Princess Luna.
