Detailed History

Born on a forgotten island nation far out to the sea called Maréire, he lived a relatively carefree life as a Prince growing up with his brother and his mother, the queen. View MoreBorn on a forgotten island nation far out to the sea called Maréire, he lived a relatively carefree life as a Prince growing up with his brother and his mother, the queen. Never one for the fancy dress and lavish lifestyle Lyle rebelled against his royal birthright growing up, much preferring to get down and dirty while doing whatever royal duties he deemed as 'fun'. Being born an Earth Pony had it's own difficulties and challenges in a royal family known for their magical abilities, however as fate would have it he was born able to bestow a gift/curse upon others with a spell called a geas though controlling it would require much training and study. Still young, naive and barely in his teens the young colt willingly used this spell on himself with the use of a mirror for it requires sight of the spell's target. His lack of control proved his downfall, he wished to use it to help him locate and help those in need and grant him the strength to help them. It worked well, too well. The geas now binds him for life, causing him to take in the emotional pain of others into his body at the cost of it manifesting in him as physical pain. In severe cases the magic backlash ravages his internal organs and bones requiring immediate medical attention, and he must live with this for the rest of his life. As compensation, the geas grants him quick healing when in the presence of those who love him as well as increased strength and agility.

The young prince took on this new 'gift' as a responsibility, willingly putting himself in harms way for the sake of others. He was outgoing throughout his young life, getting involved in every aspect of his countryman's lives from training with the Royal Knights, to helping lowly farmers till their fields and plant crops. He takes great joy in physical labor and it has made him lean and strong as he's grown into adulthood. Over the years he became well liked across the country by most of it's inhabitants, and was gifted a great treasure by his mother an ancient blade known as Fragarach a sword with many magical properties as old as the country itself. He rarely had need of it however, and only used it to it's full potential once. A small village on the edge of a dangerous forest came under attack, and Prince Liath and a small escort of knights were all that were there to fend of the attack, and the knights were quickly killed. Eager to kill one of the royal princes, the creatures backed up into a cliff overlooking the sea and the Liath backed up just a bit to far, falling from the cliff and hitting his head hard on a rock while falling into the sea losing his sword in the process.

The unconscious prince drifted out to sea on a piece of driftwood and by some miracle did not drown. He was picked up by a merchant vessel from Equestria who had ventured dangerously close to the island and it's magical protections. They picked Liath from the sea and took him back to Equestria for to the knowledge of the merchants there was no island in that part of the vast ocean. The knock to his head gave him amnesia for a time, and he wandered Equestria searching for answers for two years, that was until he settled in Ponyville and in a chance encounter met his future wife. This wonderful mare helped him find who he was, gave him a home and a family and he was so happy that when his mother came to Equestria to collect him after two years of searching, he denied going back to her and decided to settle in Ponyville with his newfound family. Nowadays, he got married and honeymooned on the island of his birth and spends his day working on his boat so they can go back and visit his mother and brother any time they wish. He also owns a small Lounge in Ponyville where he bar tends frequently.
