Detailed History

Northern Lights was born beyond the Frozen North. Beyond the jurisdiction of the princesses for this was the land of the three tribes. While most ponies moved to the promise land of Equestria, where the songs of harmony flow like the waters from the great river of Dale. While most ponies moved to the promise land of Equestria, where the songs of harmony flow like the waters from the great river of Dale. Those who saw the trip as too dangerous or were too stuck in their old ways stayed behind where the blizzards of hate continued to snow. Eventually though, harmony had found its way to the tribes in the form of desperation. With no more food to fight over, no warmth left in the ponies’ hearts they were forced to intermingle, to band together against the cold and the endless winter that had assaulted the once prosperous land. One day the sun rose into the sky, bigger and warmer than ever before. The winged beasts that had plagued the land saw the sun and vanished as the ponies were filled with hope. The hope and warmth of the sun melted the snow and began the age of the sun. Ponies of the three tribes resumed their work but were determined to keep their land from being plagued with snow ever again.

The Earth ponies of the land forged what was left and were blessed to find a usable stash of seeds to plant into the ground, the pegasi above nurtured the pants with water from their clouds, but the unicorns found themselves unable to control the sun and moon as they once had. Being lost and longing for a purpose they directed themselves towards science.

3234 years after the great sunrise, a young unicorn was born to two young happy unicorns. She was born under the sky as the lights from the Crystal Empire shot into the sky, stretching from the south and reaching into the great north. The couple took it as a sign and named their daughter, Northern Lights. The young filly was a natural scientist and beloved by her parents. She would catalog different kinds of bugs and species starting from a young age. In school she excelled in math, magic, science and history; but she just about failed art. Due to excellence in the more literate areas, she was selected to receive advanced schooling under the watch of a unicorn. Her mentor, Blizzard taught her how to do many spells as well as about the different forms of magic around them. Magic that lives inside every creature: the magic that allows earth ponies to be in tuned with the crops, the magic that imbues pegasi with the gift of flight and cloud control, and the magic that gives unicorns powers. After her years of tutor-age she was allowed to pick a focus study. Since every year she was fascinated by the beams of multicolored lights that would shoot over the southern mountains she decided to study those. On her 20th birthday she packed her bags and headed south towards the great unknown, little did she know that an entire country lay beyond those mountains.
