Design Description

Animus stands about a head taller than the average stallion. He has long slim legs and neck, and usually carries himself in a graceful manner. His horn is the same shade of his coat with a delicate upwards curve. And his eyes are a pale shade ice blue.

Animus Verse was born on November 2, 1981 at Hollow Shades. He was the only son of a family of aristocratic unicorns with a long-standing noble background. Not much can be said about his upbringing, other than he led a comfortable life.

With such a background it came as no surprise that Animus would grow to become a royal advisor and a talented master of the arcane, specialized in illusory magic. He developed and became notoriously famous for his animation spells, which granted him the ability to conjure inanimate objects for short periods of time and enabled them to perform simple activities autonomously.

Animus, being an ambitious stallion, attempted to bring his craft to the next level on several occasions. Even practicing on illegally exhumed specimens as he obsessively attempted to create a spell capable of bringing cadavers back to life. This, among many other questionable behaviors, led the villagers to fear and resent him. It culminated with him meeting an early demise, accused of relying upon dark forces to create abominable spells and to represent a danger to the population and a menace to the kingdom. Animus Verse was accused of treason, among other things, and executed by guillotine on the day of his birthday at 20 years of age.

Prior to his execution, Animus received a curse that prevented him from dying at the guillotine. As, in order to get killed, he’d have to possess a full body. After the event, it is told that Animus’ headless body ran in a panic until it disappeared at the edge of the Everfree forest. By the time everybody else had stopped panicking and screaming in fear, the unicorn’s head was already missing. It is claimed that nobody knows what happened neither to him, or his head. As neither were seen ever again.

Locals mutter about a headless horseman wandering the woods, though at this point it is more of an urban legend, and it is believed that Animus Verse must have succumbed shortly after the beheading. No body was ever found, as it must have been eaten by animals or it was naturally degraded by the soil.

Current development

Animus has wandered the Everfree forest for 20 years, condemned to a mute world of darkness, only able to connect with reality through the sense of touch.
