Detailed History
Twilight Sparkle spent her childhood studying to become the best student she could be. She admires the princess, who is her main role model, and wants to do good by her side. She neglected friendship as she didn't see the need for it, it was only a distraction. Twilight has since learned from her mistakes, though carried over her love of reading and studying into adultood.
