Raven Spire formerly a selfish cruel dark arts pony, has since changed his philosophies due to other influences (ask if you want to know ^-^) Now he is a very responsible Stallion with a kind heart, and a desire to atone for the misdeeds of his past, he is a very fair, and peace loving stallion, whom despises war, and lives to prove that although one may be dark, they do not need to be evil.

Detailed History

Raven Spire was born a standard Unicorn in the lands of an Alternate Equestria. From an early age, the stallion grew up in a village that prized magical talent above all else, however he himself lacked very much so in this regard. From an early age, the stallion grew up in a village that prized magical talent above all else, however he himself lacked very much so in this regard. As such the Brown stallion was incredibly ostracized and ridiculed from a young age. This cruel treatment by the adults and peers of his village drove a darkness into the Colt's heart, one that would remain with him for years to come. As he grew older and older in the village those around him shunned his lack of magical ability more and more. Yet when he finally reached enough power and read the correct spell tomes. The stallion summoned forth a dark Shade from the depths of a world that was not one of light. This Shade in exchange for physical attachment to the real world tutored the young Stallion for many many years. Teaching him all it new of the Dark Arts and evil magics it possessed. As he learned and grew those around in his village saw the darkness that dwelled within the stallion. With his soon to be known mastery of the Dark Arts, Raven Spire having nothing but hatred and malice in his heart for those around him, used his destructive powers to rend the village to ash. Forcing all to flee to all corners of Equestria, having lost everything. Raven himself never had anything to begin with, and so with his Shade mentor made for Luna's capital of Canterlot. In this universe Luna was the elder sister, and far more warlike. Peace among the world was not had in any regard, and Equestria was far far more harsh than in reality. Luna herself often would host yearly tournaments of strength for champions of all skills to test their mettle to become the Champion of the Arena in Equestria, an honor that came with riches, power, acceptance, prizes, and Luna's respect. All of which Raven knew he wanted. He wanted to be loved by all, seen for what he thought he was, a master, strong, skilled in magic and combat, and so the Selfish unicorn set out to become stronger, learn more from the Shade, learn more skills from everyone. However as his quest for power grew on. Raven came upon a young Umbran mare named Fleeting Shadow, she was malnourished, starving and working minimum wage or perhaps even less in a run down shoddy diner. As he ordered his meal for the day, three large rather disgusting Stallions were making rather lewd passes at the Umbran mare. (For clarification, Umbran ponies are all black ponies with curved red horns, much like Sombra, the only features setting them apart, are mane style, eye color, and body shape.) Raven knew the history of the Umbran ponies. King Sombra centuries ago led an army of Umbran ponies to conquer all of the world, yet Luna, Celestia along with the mysterious Tzu Empire and other nearby nations such as the Zebra's stopped the mad King's attempts, and since Sombra's death the Umbran ponies have been heavily discriminated against, never seeing the light of justice or care, they are treated as less than dirt, ostracized for no reason, much like Raven. Raven at this point mostly annoyed by the interruption of his meal managed to defeat the three loud stallions with the use of his Dark magics, as a reward, the Umbran mare Fleeting Shadow took Raven to her apartment as Raven had no place to stay or money save what he spent on his food. The apartment was a dump, not taken care of, the lowest of the low, a terrible place. However Raven did not really care, he simply wished to sleep and gather more power for tomorrow. As he slept however his Shade spoke to him in dreams, telling him of a book. Within the middle of the night Raven awoke to see himself standing above a brown notebook of sorts. Flipping through the pages the man couldn't read a word, it was all in a language he did not speak, yet as he saw through his Shade's eyes, he began to see more and more, but never enough to read. Each day he saw more and more, the more time he spent with this Mare the more he seemed to see. Finally he could make out the first few pages. They were locations, areas to go promising riches, powers. Finally upon confronting Fleeting Shadow on this notebook, it was explained that it was a gift from another Umbran mare years ago to her. The language it was written in was Umbran. It was at this very moment Raven decided he would need to become an Umbra pony in some way shape or form, he needed to read the rest of this book. As Raven was wandering the slums of Canterlot, Raven noticed a young Umbran colt giving a speech on Equality in a marketplace. The local ponies were throwing bottles, rocks, and all sorts of things at the colt. The very sight of such idiots and loud noises, as well as the mistreatment of ponies of darkness sparked an anger so intense in the selfish stallion that in a fit of rage Raven summoned Shadow warriors, and with their spears lowered chased off the mob of ponies, save for one brave idiot, the stallion did not move and with this act of blind rage, Raven's troops ran the stallion through with a shadow spear killing the stallion instantly. With that stallion's death Raven now had blood upon his hooves, his rage was gone in an instant, and the guards were already called due to the commotion, he ran, ran as fast as he could, hiding in the allies as he knew his mistake. Never before had he killed, never before had his rage taken another's life. He watched the man's eyes as his life force left him, for once in his life since he was a colt, he felt a remorse for his actions, a remorse mostly because the issues this would create for him.. As he hid the same colt from before approached him and chastised the angry and confused Raven on his actions, stating violence breeds only more war, and that to change they must prove everyone wrong. Not through hatred, but through love, that their evil past can be overlooked.. Raven was not entirely convinced and instead was force to flee Canterlot.. However not before one.. final matter. There was a certain stallion whom abused Fleet while she was a maid, he did.. Unspeakable horror's upon the girl, and Raven having started to blossom feelings for this mare, after living with her for several months, decided he would take care of this man, and Raven did, he very much so did. Leaving the stallion in such a tortured state his mind was utterly broken as if he forgot to speak, Raven however did not feel any kind of remorse for this vengeance. Now Raven and Fleet fled Canterlot, journeying across the lands to discover the mysteries of what appeared to be a self-writing journal leading them to power. Raven during this journey uncovered more power, more artifacts, one of which being a Red crystal that seemed to sing to Fleeting Shadow, A Red crystal that when she was near, healed her, made her calm, soothed and even enhanced her dark power. Raven made a note to learn how to control such things, but for now continued on his quest to becoming an Umbra pony. As he continued to travel he began to change, more and more, learning of the horrors committed against the Umbra, the practical slavery and genocide they are enduring, the fact they are nearly becoming extinct. Finally Raven was led to the City of Light, A warded city that stood the test of the Darkness, being a beacon of hope and sign of despair for all Umbra, Raven was led down into the sewers, at this point in his journey, Fleeting Shadow had been missing for months, and it was just him and the journal. Finally amid the depths of the sewers, Raven found what he was looking for. Fleeting Shadow and an Umbra cult. However at the head of this cult was a mare, a mare that seemed to have dead, glowing red eyes. Raven was holding his own for a small while, before a Shadow consumed the Mare, a destructive red eyed shadow. With the consumption of the Mare, began to change, as it changed a visage was seen, one of which he had only heard about. The stallion that formed from the mare was none other than King Sombra, the former Umbra Mertuna of the Umbran Species (Umbra Mertuna = Umbra King/Queen) The Mertuna has absolute power and control over all ponies of Shadow, many trillions of umbran shades go into the creation of a single Mertuna and only two have been known to ever exist. Raven was no match for Sombra's sheer power, and was quickly defeated, but what stung worst of all, was he saw his love interest, Fleeting Shadow standing beside Sombra.. The cult including Sombra escaped into the unknown areas of Equestria. Leaving Raven to die within the sewers of the City of Light.. However Raven would not die. Instead a familiar face he saw over a year ago would save him. Raven woke outside the city in a camp, and beside a camp fire was the same colt that was speaking during the Umbra Equal Rights speech in Canterlot. After a short conversation the Colt revealed himself to be a far far weaker Umbra Mertuna, the scraps of Sombra's soul that managed to survive outside of a body after his original defeat. A far far nicer more level headed Mertuna not bent on personal power and world domination. After this revelation, the Colt known as Soft Shadows would offer to teach Raven the skills he needed to defeat Sombra. As Soft Shadows knew he was not strong enough nor had the unbreakable will his brother had. He could merely give one the knowledge needed. Raven accepted this offer, with that Soft Shadows took Raven to the home of the Umbran Spirits. The Hell World. Where the Umbran spirits are generated, stored, and tormented endlessly amid an endless bleak wasteland. Normally the spirits would destroy all whom enter, yet a Mertuna had the ability to control such spirits, and as such Soft Shadows used their status as a Mertuna to find four Umbra spirits. Soft then offered Raven what he wished for most the ability to turn into an Umbran pony. With that knowledge Raven was taught a skill only Mertuna's possess, the ability to consume and absorb the spirits and powers of other Umbra ponies. These spirits are trapped in a limbo like place with no escape unless the user is killed. Raven choose to regrettably consume a rare golden eyed Umbra spirit, upon the consumption Raven's unicorn body transformed into the Umbran pony we see today. Once his transformation was complete Raven was then taught how to harness the Red crystal, but more so was taught a crystal conversion magic, used to purify the Red Crystal into White Crystal, one incredibly effective against the Dark ponies, that and many more skills. Once Raven's training was complete. Soft Shadows returned the now Umbran Raven Spire to reality, where Sombra had at this point amassed a huge army of Umbran ponies whom were forced to answer his call once more. Celestia and Luna as well as the Tzu Empire had already created a warband ready to snuff out the army before it marches. Raven knew if Celestia and Luna were able to march his species would forever die, and so with haste, Raven made for Celestia and Luna's war tents, managing to convince the two to give him a meeting, once he explained his plan to consume Sombra to become an Umbra Mertuna, to lead the Umbran Ponies in an age of peace and equality. Luna and Celestia sadly turned the stallion's offer down, and sent him upon his way. Raven unwilling to accept defeat, with the cover of night snuck into Sombra's war camps, and into the main tent. The two ponies then did battle with Raven striking Sombra down. Sombra had planned to open up an ancient portal to the Hell world that would let lose the spirits of the hell world to turn all of pony-kind into Umbran ponies forever under the rule of the Umbra Mertuna. To open the portal required a sacrifice, and the sacrifice would be Fleeting Shadow. As Sombra was struck down.. his spirit took over Fleeting Shadow's body, Sombra thought Shadow was loyal to him, willing to fight Raven, however just as he entered. Fleeting Shadow stood still, letting Raven secure an opening for an attack to Sombra's surprise. This opening revealed a double cross, that Fleeting held feelings for Raven and knew the Selfish stallion she knew could change and with his unbreakable will, knew he could be the leader her people needed. So with that, Raven consumed Sombra's spirit, ascending to the power level of Celestia, and Luna themselves. However the transaction had killed Fleeting, her spirit was on the verge of returning to the hell world, with a short exchange of confessions of love, Fleeting lost her grip on the real world and her spirit fell back into the hell world, but not before Raven Spire swore he would find her once more and resurrect her. Upon the death of Sombra and the ascension of Raven Spire as Umbra Mertuna. He quickly met with Celestia moments before battle and secured a peace treaty with the nations gathered, proving Sombra was once and for all defeated.

His story would continue for eons to come, Raven would be gifted the barren lands of the Mountain Vally as his Kingdom so the Umbran ponies may have a ruler and home to call their own once more. Raven did the best he could ordering excavations of the underground caverns to unearth the treasures of Sombra and the Mertuna before, finding many many things, including a food source for his Kingdom which he used to secure true independence for his species. Raven then constructed cities along the valley, villages, and finally his Capital with a gigantic Red Crystal Castle and Crown for him to use, while he was in the capital with the power of the entire Red Crystal Castle the Umbran King was virtually unbeatable, however as a final measure of safety, Raven constructed his most devastating weapon, the Shadow Colossus, a gigantic bipedal warrior made of manifested Shadow, Black Crystal armor and Red Crystal internal to power the colossus controlled remotely or from within it was a terror on the battlefield, exceeding even Celestia and Luna's combined strength, yet he never used it, instead keeping it as a weapon for peace, his Red Crystal Castle acting as the seat for the Colossus. Yet even with all he accomplished as much as he did, He still searched the hell world for years to come as a beloved King whom saved the Umbran ponies, He searched the hell world for Fleeting Shadow, and after nearly a decade of time.. The King finally found his lover, resurrecting her once more, it was then, Raven Spire, now the King of a decent, but incredibly happy Umbran Empire married his resurrected lover, Fleeting Shadow, and the Umbran Mertuna King Raven Spire ruled his kingdom with a fair, happy Queen Fleeting Shadow. The Umbran Kingdom having strong relationships with Celestia and Luna, yet Equestria was on the verge of war with the Tzu Empire, Raven Spire prepared to defend his Kingdom, hoping it wouldn't come to war, that was the last state of this alternate Empire, war with Equestria and the Tzu and King Raven Spire simply trying to protect his Kingdom with peace and love as best he could.
