He is detatched and reactive, a little erratic but not evil or mean. He envies magic users, not just unicorns and alicorns but all beasts of magic, including draconequus and zebras. He has a particular interest in unicorns, alicorns and magical ponies and researches on them and their origins due to them being magically apt. He takes a liking to non-magical monsters and carnivores like griffins as well, and he enjoys meat consumption.

Thaumaturgy the 2nd Whickerbray-Coronet, Thau for short, was born in Manehattan to two unicorn parents. His mother was Gait Coronet and his father was Thaumaturgy Whickerbray. All of his older siblings being Recante, Savant, Callforth, these three male, and Remodel who is female, have last names being Whickerbray-Coronet. Thau was the last to be born.

1000 years ago, an ancient powerful alicorn, before alicorns were known to exist aside from the Princesses named Propogas found the two Whickerbray-Coronet ancestors who at the time were under a different last name. They blessed our bloodline with innately powerful magical ability, not more powerful than any alicorn or highly magical beast, but simply more powerful than standard unicorns. Propogas blessed them with one condion: breed and create more of their kind. That was the only perogative Propogas gave to their herd, and upon acceptance of this goal, Propogas blessed the females and males of the herd, turning them into pure unicorns if they weren't already, and blessing them with enhanced powerful abilities that can be unlocked with time and effort. It's like adding more levels into an RPG whereas the previous level cap was 10. Thus, the family valued this ultimate goal, total genetic devotion to breed and spread this great gift.

Unfortunately, due to a vile unknown illness at the time, Propogas eventually passed away, but his bloodline still lives on. Not through just the Whickerbrays, but many other families descended from the original herd.

Thaumaturgy's parents, and grandparents, own a research facility designed to teach magic specifically to non-magic beasts, and to research those who can do magic, magical or not, named Whickerbray Biometric & Arcane Dataworks.

Thaumaturgy's parents, part of this pact with that ancient alicorn, expected and encouraged great things for all their children, and being a bloodline of magicians, professors, teachers, and other such of the field, they raised their children with access to the best magical schools and resources around.

Thaumaturgy was once a prodigy at the Vanner's High Magical Academy in the changeling kingdom, excelling in non-pony magical abilities, spells and skills, excelling greatly in his endeavors. During a highly competitive final exam in advanced thaumaturgy, his last task being the entire generation of a livable building using the natural magic of the environment..

..a damaging magical feedback loop occurred, resulting in his horn being shattered, the building collapsing and his professor destroyed outright. He did pass and get his degree, but the accident left him unable to perform many traditional unicorn spells, and the ones he could perform were basic, weak and primitive, it destroyed his planned career as a professor of his own. He wanted to teach ponies and non-ponies thaumaturgy and magic, far and wide. Feeling ashamed and destroyed, he hid from the public, cutting off contact with everyone.

Unfortunately, this came with a deep and painful downside: his cutiemark is a stylized, fractured star, and a massive flesh-colored head scar acquired from the accident. A permanent mark of his failure. Thau now lives as a social hybrid: a unicorn turned half earthen. Trying to find a new career and path with his diminished ability, he aims to put himself out there and live amongst the commoners.
