I have a full time job and do freelance work ontop of it so it means I can be very busy most days.

I prefer narrative RPs with good detail.

Any genre is fine - yet any violence or gore I'd prefer to be consulted on even with just a heads up.

Generally a little first contact ooc goes a long way into making me interested and involved in an RP - normally starters out of no where have to be pretty darn good to get my attention.

Design Description

About 6'1", underweight and lanky.

Large purple bags can usually be found under his gold eyes. His horn is about half a foot long which IS AVERAGE AND NOT BELOW NOT ONE BIT. (It's probably closer to five inches than six but do you really want to break his heart). There is some light stubble on his chin which matches his long free flowing brown mane and tail.

Ontop of his head rests a beanie of which he has two to choose from, a blue one, and his favourite a green yellow and blue one.

Detailed Personality

Thrum can come across as many things, rude, blunt, inconsiderate, intolerable, and disrespectful. However he can come across as nicer once he gets to know you and once you realise he isn't all those things because he doesn't like you - he treats everyone badly equally. Meaning it can be difficult to place him as a friend or foe.

Detailed History

The early hours of the morning of June 7th 1996 saw an event happen in central Trottingham General Hospital that some would say was a horrendous mistake. Well... They'd say it eventually.

Thrum Beat. Son of single mother, Ava Beat. His mother was and is the best mother in the whole world, at least from the grey unicorn's point of view. Maybe it's just because she was his only mum, he didn't have anything compare her to. But she was always there, supporting her son in his terrible decisions and mistakes throughout his life - while she still worked two jobs and ran a house hold practically on her own, she had a little help from a Griffon called Fitch, but we'll get to that.

Fitch and his wife ran a Fish and Chip shop "Fitch's Five Finger Featherless Feasts" most people just called Fitch's or 'FFFFF' on Trottingham harbour, their chips were more popular than their fish, but all the same they did business. Ava sometimes dropped Thrum off here as a foal when she had work, which was pretty often. In fact the old white and blue-grey griffon was the closest Thrum had to a father figure in his life. Despite the hardest attempts of overfeeding the young unicorn, the Griffons never could get any meat on his bones, he always looked like he was being malnourished.

He attended Trottingham Nursery, Trottingham Primary, and Trottingham High. In each of the teaching establishment his attendance, grades, and attitude got worse and worse. Except in music, the schools might have hated that grey unicorn but they had to admit he could play, practically anything in a few hours he'd have it down, guitar, violin, piano, flute (that one was hard with hooves), and his personal favourite, the drums. His singing voice sounded like a cat being hit with a hammer so there was much to be desired there, but his musical prowess was the only reason he made it so far in education.

Despite his antics, Thrum was very good a making friends, not necessarily with good people. Perhaps that was because he was so good at breaking the law - he was an early bloomer, and discovered his passion for music at 4 years old, and on top of that could grow a (pretty disgusting) goatee by the age of 14, mix that in with horrendous alcohol abuse and smoking at a young age and you've a horse who looks old enough to buy cigarettes and booze. Thrum provided his friends with the way to get the good stuff, and eventually it led to him getting kicked out of Trottingham High after they all got drunk behind the bike sheds.

This was a hard time for Thrum, his mum had been subtly pushing him to get a job to help out with bills, he was 16 by now. It was expected of someone who's education was as bad as Thrum's to go into retail or something easy for the rest of his days. But that just sounded so boring. He used his scraggly beard and tall physique to lie about his age to start working a bar in a nightclub in Trottingham. He loved it, the bass of the music pounding in his chest like he was at a concert, lots of attractive people getting drunk having fun, him supplying them with the means to forget their cares and enjoy the music. He hated the DJs, maybe it was jealousy or just a general dislike for their character but they always ground his gears the wrong way.

He worked there for two years, saving bits, paying bills. Before he came home one early morning to see signs two people had had dinner, he knew it couldn't have been Fitch because that old Griffon was obsessed about cleaning. He tried not to think anything of it, but when he woke up the next morni- well... Afternoon - he saw his mum sat across from a stallion, grey earth pony both drinking tea or coffee. She looked terrified but gulped the fear down and introduced, "Sunset Nix, your father." Thrum didn't even say anything, he just turned around before the stallion could even catch a look at him. He went to his room, filled a bag of stuff, put in his earphones, connected them to his Walkman, placed his dirty beanie over his head and left.

A train to Canterlot later and Thrum Beat was in the big city, he somehow managed to get into the Canterlot Institute of Musical Arts on their BA Music course. His grades were against him but his talent saw him through. He found some cheap student housing, studied for three years, worked as a bartender to pay his bills and graduated in July 2017 with a First Class degree with honours.

And now he works, a bigger nightclub in Canterlot, and when he's not asleep or working he's writing music, trying to put a band together so he can do what he loves doing, making music.

Ignite: A simple spell that produces a small gold flame (no bigger than a matchstick's flame) close to Thrum. Normally used for lighting cigarettes.

Pocket Dimension: One of Thrum's more complex spells. Creating a small, 1-foot-in-diameter portal which Thrum can place his hoof in and pull something out if it has previously been stored there. A deep pocket for those who can't be bothered carrying saddlebags.
