Once a loyal, albeit slightly morbid member of The Continuum, Chromaggia always longed for children of her own. The death of her long time mate, followed by the decree by The Continuum that no Draconequus may bear children, threw her into a deep depression and she escaped the Continuum to Equestria, where she had heard another Draconequus had once escaped to.
There, she met Momento Mori and his brother. The trio ended up traveling together and became very close friends. She forgot about the Continuum and her fears of being hunted down, now feeling protected by her newfound friends. Over time, however, Chromaggia's sadness returned to her. She still longed for a child of her own, and feared she would never have one, until one day they stumbled upon an infant abandoned on a tree stump.
Instantly smitten with the baby, Chromaggia claimed her as La Bambino, and the trio became adopted parents to the mysterious infant. A wonderful, if overly cautious mother, Chromaggia helped raise her baby with all the love she had in her.
Chromaggia has a tendency to cry about anything and everything. The sunset being a bit too pretty? Sobbing. The wind feels good in her hair? Sobbing. She likes this apple she picked? Sobbing. Most of her speaking is between sobs or songs, and what is just speaking is in Italian or Latin. She speaks almost no English. Because of her tendency for intense sobbing, her emotions are very hard to distinguish and one usually has to ask if you want to be sure.
She has an intense fear of being the center of attention, especially the attention of men. This is why traveling with the brothers is especially healthy for her, as both have their own intense fascinations that keep them occupied, and allows her to simply enjoy their company. She also panics at losing the sight of her baby, and will be inconsolable until the child reappears.
Having both an interest, and an extreme dislike of death, Chromaggia's morbid curiosity and humor can get her into trouble sometimes, when she finds herself in misunderstandings and unlucky situations.
