An ancient spirit born from the wishes of dying children seeking comfort during The Plague, Madrina cares only for the needs of children. She often brings gifts of toys and treats to orphans or children who have recently lost a family member. While the adults call this spirit by her proper name, Dama Poderosa (Powerful Lady), all the kids simply refer to her as Madrina (Godmother).She collects the souls of children who have died and takes them to her garden, where she grows the souls into flowers. She speaks to the flowers fondly, often kissing them, as they are forever her children. Her garden is hidden away, with walls made of tombstones. There's a field filled with food crops, and a barn with livestock.She cares only for the wellbeing of children, and has no qualms with stealing the children from abusive or neglectful households, and take them back to her garden to raise herself. She will even take children from a loving household, if the parents cannot provide for the child, however this situation often turns out poorly, and hurts her to do. She tries to avoid this the best she can, but the needs of the child always outweighs the feelings of the parent. She is also highly protective of children, leading her to kill child predators, often burning them alive. She is apathetic to the needs of those who are not children, even if they pray to her.However, she will grant blessings to kind caretakers of orphanages, or parents who are especially good. These blessings act as a trade, as she always removes children from her garden when they hit their teenage years, and stops caring for them. She will usually leave the children with someone she has given a boon to, someone who has recently lost a child around the same age, or someone seeking an apprentice. She knows if she has given blessings, the recipient is more likely to revere and perhaps pray to her, making them more likely to accept the teen.She has a strange but sweet relationship with Thanatopsis. While she can create sweets from thin air, she cannot create toys which she frequently gives. He provides her with the toys, and makes her very happy. They are both old, wise souls, and enjoy reminiscing about times long gone. She wants to have children with him, often focusing more on that than their actual relationship.
