Rivera talking to Twilight

In 2045, Rivera was seen speaking over to Twilight Sparkle in the Human World just moments before Twilight zapped the 2 of them back to Equestria, during the conversation Rivera express gratitude to the Young Princess for constantly bringing him back to his home world of Earth, not only just him but with Godzilla and the others as well prior to their deaths in the years 2037, 2042 and 2044. As of 2045 Rivera and Showa were the last surviving members of Godzilla Team at the time of the mid 2040s, where during the aspect and conclusion of Rivera's heart filled words to Twilight Sparkle, the young princess would never know that this would be the last thing she would ever hear from Rivera, as about a half hour later when they return to Equestria Rivera would perish during an Elemental Storm.
