horsen't! hello I made a creature c: they're a flying boar who makes decorative trinkets working with brass and glass. to sell. they have a shop!! I haven't decided what to name them yet, but some boar culture building has occurred...
tail rings are common; longer tails with lots of rings demonstrate achievements early in life since you gotta earn each one by demonstrating proficiency in a particular trained skill. some of them have many more tail rings than this one!!
boars' stripes fade as they get older irl, so I figured having faint stripes, like young adulthood approximately? would probably develop into a whole aesthetic trend!
braiding the longer hair around the throat and on the back is often a social activity. since this particular boar moved away from their family n friends,+ they can't reach to braid their mane along the spine, it remains loose instead </3 the fish biting a stylized sun lure is a common motif that appears in clothing, jewelry, and tusk carvings! (they carve patterns into the tusks,, some also embed precious materials in the surface of the tusk - metal, gems, shells, etc.) also teeth, like the shape of their ear cuffs c: these tie back to important figures in their folklore, some of whom also come up in my horse characters' lore!
this particular boar is dandelion coded on purpose for joy,, the show often makes non-pony hoofed species plain colors and I w i l l n o t. they are ALL fun colors. also!! the wings :0 I think probably boars would have some weather based magic, like pegasi, n would have winged/non-winged variants with differing roles. mythological boars get associated with weather a lot!!
they're definitely omnivorous.
really wealthy boars would probably have obnoxious and damaging beauty trends, like binding the separate parts of the hooves together with sets of metal rings through the frontmost layers of keratin on the two front toes - not the dewclaw bits tho, maybe filing down their tusks or carving them until they're too delicate to actually use as tusks, trying to soften their bristles to excess... but this is not a particularly wealthy boar. they just like making shiny art!!
the ones that are less wealthy are more likely to have inlays that reinforce their tusks or decorative tusk caps, maybe polishes, but these came out of adding pretty things to practical dental work.
concept summary: they will make uncomfy but polite attempts to smile and laugh if you make a "when pigs fly" comment & I thought it'd be delightful to make a chonky character with a shop full of brass instruments and delicate glasswork,, like- like a bull in a china shop.... but they're a boar in a glass shop.
