I DO NOT OWN THIS MUSIC.Seasons in the Abyss is the fifth studio album from L.A. thrashers, Slayer. While the album still has the same brutal, speed metal aspect of Slayer's first 3 studio LPs, it also experiments with a much toned down heavier style, still keeping that Thrash Metal feel. They experimented with this just a tiny bit in their previous album, South of Heaven. "Dead Skin Mask," shows how Slayer can still kick your ass while not playing 1000 miles per hour. The song is about notorious serial killer Ed Gein, who was a profound cannibal and necrophiliac. He also inspired the famous horror movie, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Slayer has always been a band to sing about murder, hell, satan, and other extreme subjects, but that's what gives Slayer their personality. Slayer was there from the dawn of Thrash and helped shape the genre along side Metallica and Anthrax. Megadeth was to come later on, but that's a different story. All in all, Slayer are part of the Big 4 of Thrash, and rightfully so.
