He wasn't born with wings nor he is some kind of bat, they are actually magical vampiric wings he obtained during a fight with a vampire at a... "Haunted mansion" after accidentally absorbing the vampire's power. They are always bordered with a red aura which is vampiric escence, they also give him the ability to use really short range magic without a horn, it's nowhere near as good as an actual horn but it's something(The magic comes from the wings.)
