Seta's mind can often be set on one task for months. His work is extremely important to him, and any interruption is quick to make him furious. Seta's father is a well-known, quite wealthy unicorn mage, and thus Seta was surrounded by both high-level magic and wealth for the entirety of his colthood. View MoreSeta's father is a well-known, quite wealthy unicorn mage, and thus Seta was surrounded by both high-level magic and wealth for the entirety of his colthood. Pushed by his father's success, he decided that he too would become a paragon of magical expertise. He was never the best mage of his peers, tending to overstep his abilities and become burnt out by spells above his level, although after some correct strings were pulled and bits were shared Seta was accepted into the Canterlot School for Gifted Unicorns. Here, he fell deeply into self-hatred due to the fact that all of his fellow classmates were far better than him and, given his lack of drive due to being spoiled as a child, this would not change as the years went by. Well into his teens he was a blank-flank as he was determined to get a magic-related talent and, by any means he tried, could not; however he was never bullied for this, mostly because of the influence his family had, although there was much gossip about it. He began to fail the majority of his classes and his father started becoming more and more disappointed in him, so he became desperate. One night, he bribed his way into the restricted section of the library and found an ancient tome speaking of a spell that would grant great power at a great cost. Without reading the entire thing he spoke the words to the spell and felt his magic increase in potency instantly. A cutie mark appeared on his flank in the shape of a silver hourglass, overfilled with sparkling red sand. Promptly after, he stole the book from the library and headed home quickly to tell his father of his successful exploit only to find that his home and his father were completely gone. He ran about the square, begging for people to tell him where his father was, but it seemed that not only did no one know where his father had disappeared to, but they didn't recognize him or recall anything about his previously well-known family. He had been suddenly forced into a world where he had never existed. He was not allowed back to the school, as his name was not on the records of any student, and he was too old to join in as a new student. With the last of the money he had on him when the fateful spell was cast, he bought a lab in Canterlot where he explored his powers in solitude, eventually making a career out of building magical constructs for the wealthy that they would use as servants or defense.
