spirit weaver is a chaotic good aligned mare. she will do anything to do what she deems is a good cause, no matter the price. she sees herself as a protecter of the weak and slayer of evil. despite the fact that she does everything in her power for 'good' she sees herself as an evil (or at least not good) person, and seems to seek repentance for this constantly.

every living thing is infused with magic. from the largest of dragons to the smallest of bugs. everything is magical. everything except one spirit weaver. a small unicorn who ended up an anomaly. no magic coursed through her body, but her heart still beat. her blood still flowed. she was, legally, dead. but, she was still very much alive.

this was, of course, bad for her. she was left on the front steps to an orphanage shortly after her own birth. it was here that she grew up. it was almost the set up to a hallmark style movie; the unloved and abused girl growing up alone and picked on by everyone else. a blind eye always cast towards her suffering. but, unlike the movies and books, things didn't get better for her. time went on, other ponies got adopted. but, still, she remained.

she was sixteen when she decided that she couldn't handle this life anymore. she took her only possessions, and stole away in the dead of night. she didn't know what happened next, or how long she was on the road for, but she did eventually find herself lost deep within the everfree forest (quite a trek from canterlot, where she hailed). she was sure she was going to die there. she was hungry, thirsty, and sleep deprived. thankfully, she was able to solve most of these problems when she came across something. something powerful.

ruins. ancient ruins. older than the forest around it. there were many things here. shelter. water. fish. she took her time here, to rest and rebuild her stamina. and, it was here that she found something else. something lost to time, as well. she found magic. she found what eluded her for years. what the gods had felt right to tear from her. and, it was here, that she took it back.

she found ways around her disabilities. runes and sigils. spells that required none of her own magic. ways to spawn flames and to teleport while simply borrowing the magic of the world around her. she stayed longer than she could possibly know, here. months, possibly even up to a year, studying these runes. trying to figure out just how to make it all work.

she did. though, there were hiccups along the way. the largest of which ended up with her earning her title of 'the everfree witch.'

she went too far, and used too much energy. something was able to slip through the cracks in the world that she was fabricating. a horrible beast of lightning and death. something she couldn't simply.... destroy. something that cut a hole through the everfree, rampaging towards civilization. a civilization that it found.

fires burned, and dozens of lives were lost by the time spirit caught up to it. the village was razed, with only a few stragglers surviving. and, it was here that spirit made a split second decision. she had to bind this creature. and, only two things were capable of binding an elemental of this strength. a near flawless crystal, which spirit didn't have. and a soul. spirit did have one of these.

without time to weigh the pros and cons of this, spirit had enacted the ritual, forcing this beast to dwell within her soul, constantly aching to get out. wishing revenge on this creature that would imprison it. the survivors, however, were not content that this beast was defeated. they saw spirit draw it within herself. they knew that she sent this beast upon them. they deemed her a witch. they chased her down into the everfree, intent on killing her.

years passed. the name still sticks with the mare. as does the beast within. she has changed her life's work, though. she simply seeks repentance. she hunts down those that would use magic for evil, and she.... rectifies the situation. all she wishes now, is forgiveness. from those that scorn her, and from herself.at scorn her, and from herself.
