You feel it in the air - spookening is upon us! As you venture down the leaf-covered road, a tingle slithers down your being as the surrounding forest gives way to a more rural-looking landscape. Pausing, you take it in - the vast swathe of dilapidated farmlands, overgrown cornfields, the dusty dirt path leading onto the property, and up to...a massive, old-era manor house. The property’s very presence is noticeably heavy, but not unpleasant, given the time of year and your desire to experience something scary, and it appears you’re not alone! The curiosity grows as you notice it. In the rugged courtyard, groups of ponies move about, going in between set up game booths ranging from apple bobbing to haybale tossing. A few others calmly enter and exit the cornfield to the left, confirmed by the occasional heads of jumping ponies peeking over. Still more enter, and run screaming out of, the looming manor beyond. Taking in the vast selection of attractions, you come to the realization that anyone would marvel at just how broad of a setup this haunted house truly has. So many choices for the scariest of nights!------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------The options were all neatly laid out for Ephee to choose from and all she needed to do was pick one.A downtrodden manor, a supposed cornfield maze situated to the side, and a series of fair games located across the nearby courtyard. All she needed was a short moment to think and her decision had been made.Obviously, any haunted building needed ghosts to dwell within, and the ragged dress dyed with red stains that she wore fit exactly that role. With a deep breath, Ephee pranced her way along the path and made it towards the entrance of the manor. The building looked old, but the illusion was partially broken by the hints of cleanliness within; the last thing they needed was someone to snag a nasty pathogen from digging around too much. She wouldn’t be deterred at all, pushing forth into the entrance and scanning the surprisingly lit interior, with the twist that everything glowed an ominous green. All of the light came from a group of lamps arranged neatly in the corner, almost foreign and unrecognizable in design. Someone went all out this year.Picking up the lamp that stood out the most, she ventured deeper through one of the doors - and she would pick nothing but the most menacing of them! After a few minutes of inspecting various items and furniture, she noticed something… odd, once she moved a few rooms deep. The manor seemed to have... changed drastically, as if the estate took on a different form. A balcony found in the inside looking down on an empty room, a room with a pair of stairs simply ascending with a short walk sideways before descent, and even the way back appearing far distinct from what she remembered.Ephee could only assume this was some form of illusion trickery, but she still felt her heart speed up, scanning through the rooms with gradual haste as the need to leave became the main priority. She found no such way out and only ended up feeling lost. Then, a distant tinge of hope showed up, with the same green light from the lamp approaching her. Hoped turned to fear as the figure became clearer, it stood tall on two limbs, with long digits grasping the lamp and blank white eyes, scales and feathers poking through open sections of its clothed body. She couldn't move, as it screeched then lunged right at her. The target? Her lamp. It would snatch it from her magical grasp, then gape open its mouth before… gently extinguishing the flame. Ephee woke up...? Then found herself in a circle of sleeping ponies with lamps in front of her, with only hers was unlit... but she questioned none of it, and quickly ran off. Home, and never again to this mysterious building.
