I'm starting a line of tips for drawing to help out a friend! But, will be sharing it here as well! The first one being line weight! Having variation in the thickness of your lines (some thick, some small, some tapered at the end and thicker in the middle, etc.) gives the piece a whole lot more character and also makes things read easier to the viewer! For example: in this image the outline of the hair is thicker, getting the overall shape of the hair across! Whereas the lines inside the outline of the hair are smaller so as not to distract from the over all silhouette. So instead of making all of the lines the same, fighting with one another for the spotlight, they are varied, working together to give you another level of detail without making things confusing.Note: Keep in mind this is just my opinion. There are definitely stylistic choices people may use that have uniform line weights that look excellent! I've done it myself even. This is just something that I do, you can draw however you like!
