Are all the bat ponies in the show supposed to be linked to Princess Luna? I always kinda wondered about their lore ngl. Did she make em? What about the ones pulling her carriage?
Were they on vacation while she was gone?

I honestly like to think those specific "Bat Ponies" were just celestia's guards in nightmare Night costumes. but that's a cool idea that Luna made them and they're connected to her.

All the bat ponies in the show were the product of transfiguration magic, you can see this in The Cutie Re-Mark when bat pony Rainbow Dash takes off her helmet and gets normal pony eyes, where as before she had bat like eyes.
