Why had he been brought back, who brough... View MoreIt was a rainy summer night in Canterlot, and Leon honestly didn't know what to do with himself. Ever since he'd been woken up, he'd had nothing but questions. Why had he been brought back, who brought him back, and what was the deal with that strange, recurring dream he'd been having? It was vague, a mare enveloped in shadow kept on telling him to expect her in a strange, distorted voice, getting closer and closer as the nights went by, her features never growing more distinct or more noticeable, just this pitch black void with a pair of deep, azure cybernetics staring him down, unblinking and cold. The one last night was especially ominous, with her telling him that she had 'found him', whatever the hell that meant. Now, Leon wasn't one for believing in anything akin to premonitions, if you asked him to his face he would most likely call it superstitious hocus pocus drivel but something about it felt... Off. It was just a dream but the titan of a stallion could swear he could feel a subtle, ever so noticeable tingle in the back of his neck every time he woke up. Almost like... No, it couldn't have been, system linking between dimensional realms wasn't possible after all. As the stallion laid on his small bed, staring up blankly at the ceiling, he felt something odd. The hairs on what was left of his organic body began to prick, causing him to sit up sharply and swing his legs off the bed. That feeling, surely it couldn't be- 'WARNING. WARNING. RIFT SIGNATURE IDENTIFIED. UNIDENTIFIED INCURSION IMMINENT' flashed brightly in his cybernetic eye, the stallion jumping to his feet and getting himself dressed, pulling his jeans on, his canvas boots and finally, his bomber jacket. A sense of unease rushed over him as he took a moment to look at his old moniker emblazoned on the back of it, before zipping it up and bolting out of his room, sprinting through the halls of the castle and trying his best not to knock any guards over in the process. The signature was close, maybe a few blocks away at most but he knew whatever was coming through would be through before he made it there. He launched himself over the gates of the castle with a gargantuan leap, fully sprinting and breathing heavily as he saw the signature on his radar, a single vehicle showing up at the location of the rift, sitting there stationary, almost as if it was waiting for him. In a matter of less than a minute, the stallion had closed the distance, even if he couldn't see the vehicle he could hear it, even just idling was enough to rattle windows the closer he got to it, the only question was, was it an interceptor, or was it a drone? As the stallion rounded the corner lit up by headlights, he deployed the cannon that was holstered in the compartment in his thigh, moving to the center of the road and aiming it at the lights. "DRIVER! IDENTIFY YOURSELF!" His booming voice called out as he stood there motionless in the middle of the road, keeping his sights trained on the lights. A quick scan gave him a slight sense of relief, a life signature was detected so mercifully, it wasn't a drone. That being said, he knew full well he wasn't out of the woods yet. "LAST CHANCE! IDENTIFY YOURSELF OR BE FIRED UPON!" He yelled out at the still idling machine, his finger moving to the trigger as he steeled himself, ready to put down any potential threat that might come his way. A few more seconds passed by before the idling engine shut off, the lights of the machine no longer blinding him as he finally got to see what it was. It was an interceptor alright, armored, armed to the teeth with exposed weaponry, with metal plating and integrated sensor arrays in place of windows. What caught him off guard however, was the make and model of it. Of all of the things it could have been, it was a Porsche 930 Turbo, painted in a deep, wine red. Usually this wouldn't have caught someone by surprise, but this car, in this color, and this specification? In his old life, long, long before he had been bought back as a titanium and tungsten puppet, Leon had owned a 930 Turbo that was identical in specification to the one that sat before him. He took his eyes off the plated windows and looked down at the barcode licence plate sat on the front bumper. He didn't even need to scan it, he could recognize the pattern by memory alone. The interceptor sat before him was his old Porsche, the Porsche that he had sworn up and down was destroyed by the fire on the night of his death. Slightly rattled by the potential of this being a ruse, he kept his sights trained on the machine, hearing a soft click as the door unlatched and a creak as it slowly opened. Out of the cockpit stepped a larger than average mare wearing a mask, looking over him, seemingly stunned by what, or who she was seeing. She was dressed in much the same way as him, black jeans, a white bomber jacket and denim blue canvas boots, the mask adorning her face was identical to his, although rather than Leon's pink inverted cross, hers was adorned with a glowing, azure blue ankh. She seemed to be augmented in an almost identical way to Leon too, the cybernetics she wore being made of a strange material, almost looking like some kind of translucent, black gemstone. She had a long, flowing black mane, a peach colored coat and most worryingly to Leon, a pair of bright, azure colored cybernetic eyes. So it was a system link, he hadn't been dreaming, this mare had been tapping into him while he was sleeping and she had been able to bypass his multiple firewalls. She closed the door to the Porsche behind her slowly and began to take slow, tentative steps towards him, the stallion keeping his guard up as he trained the sights on her. Leon began to speak, holding his ground as he watched her coming closer. "What are your intentions here augmented officer? Who sent-" "It's really you..." The masked mare interrupted in a tone of disbelief, looking over the stallion before her as she slowly approached him. Her voice was wavering, and Leon couldn't help but notice that her accent was the same as his. She was from Sterling too. "All this time, all these years I've... I've-" "That's close enough." Leon spoke authoritatively, keeping his sights trained on the mare as she stopped walking towards him, stopping where she was and looking over him, her eyes brimming with tears as she began to smile a legitimately joyful smile. "I didn't call for any backup, which I assume means you've come to take me back for decommissioning. I came here to escape from that life, from that world, I did my job but there is yet more for me to do for others. If you're here to try and get me to return, you will not succee-" "You've gotten so strong... Fifteen years ago you would have shot me the moment you rounded that corner..." The mare said simply as Leon slightly cocked his head in confusion, his guard still up as she spoke. Her tone was joyous, disarming even, tears rolling down her face as she spoke softly but why was she talking as if she knew him? He couldn't recall ever seeing this mare in his life but there was something about her that was undeniably familiar to him. "...I know you don't recognize me, and I do not blame, and forgive you for that... It has been an unbelievable amount of time after all... But right now, I need to show you something... If I don't, if I just say who I am, you will think that I'm playing some kind of ruse and you will likely shoot me... Seeing is believing..." This mare, she even spoke like him, had similar mannerisms to him. Just who the hell was standing in front of him? The mare slowly reached up to the zipper on her bomber jacket, Leon tensing up somewhat as he readied himself for some kind of potential attack. She slowly unzipped her jacket halfway and pulled the left side of it open with her black, almost crystalline looking hand. In that exact moment, Leon's eyes shot wide open. For the first time in nearly twenty years, he felt anxiety and uncertainty washing over him. Right on the mare's clavicle, there was a birthmark that he couldn't mistake for anything else, it was a birthmark that he couldn't forget. Three spots, right along her clavicle, with the furthest one almost seeming to take the shape of a four pointed star. The stallion's breaths got heavier as his gun began to tremble, him looking over the birthmark in utter disbelief before looking back to the mare's cybernetic eyes, his breaths almost hitching in his throat as he slowly lowered the revolver, slipping it back into it's compartment and sealing it away in his thigh. "S-...St-............Stella?......" He asked quietly, his shaking prominent as he slowly began to walk towards the mare, tears flowing from his left eye as he picked up the pace, wrapping his arms around her tightly. He could feel that she was there, this wasn't a glitch in his system, it wasn't his arguably fractured mind playing tricks on him, she was real, she was actually there. Leon began to cry uncontrollably as he held the mare tightly, with her returning his embrace and holding him equally as tightly. "Oh God, what did they do to you?..." He asked through his tears, holding her close to him as the rain poured down on them both. "...Not enough to break me, it would seem..." She spoke, choking up and beginning to cry with him, looking up into his eyes with a joyous smile on her face. "It's been a long, long time... We have so much that we have to talk about... Dad....."
