Growing up in Manehatten Cipher was raised by Vivian and Booker Splint, his parents. When he was about seven his mother was found dead in an alleyway after she failed to return home one night. Cipher ended up joining the Manehatten Police Department some time after, but ended up resigning after 5 years of service.Now residing in Canterlot he makes his living as a detective.
