Friendship Letters

Dear Princess Celestia,
As we mark the close of another year, we look forward with great expectaton and high hopes for the new one. I've marked quite a few of them on this world and I admit I am guilty of having done this a time or two in the past
However, with age comes the benefit of experience. I no longer raise unrealistic and lofty expectations as to what the coming year will hold. I know that situations and events can happen within the blink of an eye, and what was once good can rapidly devolve into a giant pile of crap. Same holds true in reverse, based on my experience.
The year will be what we make it to be, each of us working toward whatever goals and accomplishments we either begin anew or continue from the year, or years, past. How we celebrate the joyous times and cope with the hardships and sorrows that await us will measure how good the year was when we return at the end of this one to clebrate and reflect on the days and months gone by.
That said, I wish you, and all those that read this simple letter, much luck, joy, and prosperity in this coming year, and I thank each of you for your friendship. It means a great deal to me.
Your humble subject,
Longhaul
