What better way to get to know someone than music eh?

So here in no certain order is a list of my favourite albums of 2017

Every Country's Sun

Mogwai

Love this album, mogwai has made some amazing albums before but this is truly an inspiring album for me, aways pumps me up and makes me want to create. it plays nicely with their established sound but like, more polished and refined. not as synth heavy as the last one but like a perfect mix.

Waiting On A Song

Dan Auerbach

I have been following Dan Auercbachs single stuff since I got into the Black Keys and I love the soulful way he aproached his last album. This album from the very get go is exactly what it wants to be, a sort of throwback to easy listening days. it is very retro and very uplifting. some of the songs just put a smile on my face and it is great to hear the exploration of sounds that would not necesarily sell under The Black keys name, but the whole album does sound like some of my favourite tracks from Turn Blue.

Heartworms

The Shins

The Shins are pretty good and I have been sampling and listening to some of their previous albums but this is the freshest one I have listened to, and it really is a return to a sonic playground they dominate in. bouncey indie rock and a little meloncholic. if you wanted to know if you were going to get into the Shins this is one album I would suggest. truly a fun experiance to tune into.

Death Song

The Black Angels

For a band named after a Velvet Underground song it feels really apropriate for them to releas an album named as such. Psychadelic rock at its most modern finest, an album that takes you on a journey and does not let go. if you would love a trippy experiance this is the one to go for. really tight sound.

As Long As Your Eyes Are Wide

Said The Whale

I was really surprised how much I loved this album, Said the Whales last album was a little too much Tokyo Police Club sounding for me and Said The Whale has it's own voice I longed to hear. A voice they speak with clearly in the lyrical structure of this album, well thought out lyrics bringing me back to the band I loved from the first listen. the sound is much much more heavey on synths and samples than any of their previous speaking to 80's nostalgia and a touch of The Postal Service they deliver these sweet tunes going to many places emotionally. A must listen for sure.

So there we go, just a few albums I loved in 2017. there were any more but these are for sure my favourites.

Honourable Mentions

Villians Queens of the Stone Age

Pleasure Feist

Truth is a Beautiful Thing London Grammar

Emperor of Sand Mastodon
