Odds are you are here for the following reasons: You were linked here by me to understand why reposting is bad. You found this on the newest/top feed when i first posted it. You found this randomly some other way, either way you're here and this is about reposting art and how it effects you, this website, artists, and more.
CA's copyright policy is covered over the Canadian Copyright law, you can of course read them here https://canterlotavenue.com/rules/
But I'll be going over the basics from there.

"No content is allowed which may infringe on intellectual property rights of others, or whose source(s) explicitly prohibit distribution on other sites."
This means you can not repost artwork that the artists has explicitly said you can not repost, and example of this is that the artist has a large watermark saying "Do Not Repost", in the artist's personal Terms of Service they say you may not repost, or a disclaimer on their page, or description of the drawing that says, Do Not Repost. "But if it's on the internet then it's meant to be reposted!" Nope! That's illegal due to copyright and any artist can file a DMCA report, or rather the Canadian alike, to get the art taken down, and the last thing admins want to deal with is a formal complaint such as that.

"Before uploading content that is not yours (including recolors), we ask that you:
Confirm that the original artist or copyright holder allows distribution and/or modification of the content
Include any credits or links back to the artist or copyright holder of the content"
This means if you have permission and the artists explicitly says it's A-Okay to repost, you may, however you MUST link back to the artist, this can just be a link to the artist's DeviantART, FurAffinity, ArtStation, etc page.

When dealing with stolen or infringing content, do NOT harass, spam or otherwise attempt to "correct" the user suspected. Doing so will be treated as harassment according to our rules of conduct. Instead, follow the instructions given below to report the content, and allow our staff to handle the situation.
Staff being me, I have Corona's explicit permission to go after copyright violations, I am more than willing to search through every art website I can to find the original artists if you do not try or say "I found it on google"

Don't repost art without a proper link back to the original artist, and make sure the artist allows you to repost said art.
Writing "credit to the artist" "i commissioned this from someone" are not proper ways to credit an artist, there must be a direct link.
Link back to bases used
Link back to any art memes/ challenges used

Screencaps from the show? Those are fine, that's a company that can be easily found unlike one freelance artist, but be careful about screencaps vs vector draw overs. Vectors are usually much larger and higher quality and must follow the guidelines above.
You the original artist? Awesome, keep sharing and don't worry about linking back.

Why bother with crediting artists?
Artists usually make a living off of commissions, or atleast a part of their income come in that way. When you repost a reference sheet or art that you commissioned and give no credit, that artist may be loosing customers, ad click revenue, and potential new fans. Linking back to artists helps them grow audiences and it's overall a very respectful thing to do. Want to know more on why reposting art is bad? Here's a tumblr post explaining perfectly http://dont-repost-art.tumblr.com/post/161405047627/but-why-is-reposting-bad and there are even more examples and explanations on the tumblr that can explain how this hurts more than helps.

This artists drew a piece of Doctor Who and Sherlock, a larger account reposted to art and gained thousands of notes, while the original had less than a dozen. Once looking through the note the original artist found, Several people got the design as a tattoo. A number liked it enough to want custom designs but didn’t know how to contact them so that’s approximately £300 they didn’t get a chance to earn. Someone used that art in the front cover of a comic by accident and while the company fixed it after being contacted them that’s exposure that it’s far too late to capitalize on now.
