Nite is half Changeling. Due to her lack of a horn on her head, she cannot control the change between Earth Pony to Changeling, unlike actual changelings. When transformed, the effect can last up to 8 hours before she can revert back into her Earth Pony form.
Her cutie mark is a gate with fog on the sides. It indicates that her destiny in life is to protect the souls of the dead. (IE: Graveyard watch) although most ponies would look down on her for her job, she loves it. After all, her mother is buried in that graveyard.
She has an adopted older brother named Ever Strides who works as a surgeon in a hospital and has also been diagnosed with terminal cancer. He refuses to tell his kid sister since he's all she has in the world; he does, however, die eventually, and Nite is left with questions about why he never told her in the first place. She begins to doubt his knowledge and eventually begins to resent herself, for she believes it was all her fault for being adopted in the first place.
Nite is a quiet but brutally honest pony. If she believes that you are wrong, she will tell you. She's not very friendly and is constantly living on edge.
Nite Watch's story in full was a collaboration between myself and my friend Redxmrpimpen.

It’d been a month and three days since the incident and Nite Watch was still getting over the flu she’d gotten after the ordeal. But today was a special day for her. She was going to her friend Nite Owl’s flight graduation. With the help of her friend Fog Lite and their friend Time Step, she had been able to get into Cloudsdale with her. Time Step’s magic helped her to stand on clouds without falling to her death, more or less.
“Look Nite Watch!!! We get a good booth to sit so we don’t get run over by crazy parents!” Fog Lite yelled in her ear.
“AGCK!” Nite Watch recoiled and flopped back. “Seriously… You’re right there. I don’t need you to scream at me!” She held her head, feeling rather dizzy after that. The flu effects had been lingering. She still had a violent cough as well as a pounding headache every day.
“Ah ya.. sorry.” She trotted off to catch up with her mother leaving the dusky pony to regain her composure.
“Geez, my head… ugh…” Slowly but surely, she began to walk toward the designated booth.
Discord had heard them speaking about the graduation and he had followed them, he was under the bleachers were nobody could see him as he ate popcorn and drank soda “these things are a bore unless something exciting happens, like maybe one crashes or something!
He could speak loudly do to all the shouting above him. Discord made sure to keep his eye on nite from under the bleachers, of course after a sudden realization he quickly regretted being under them all “dear me… These ponies need some sort of cover up or at least some pants!.” he looked straight ahead making his loose most of his concentration on nite “she’ll be fine I’m sure”
Syndicate placed himself between Nite Watch and her destination. He had been watching her space out once again. She hadn’t changed… much. She was older and more mature, now and most likely had forgotten him. But he’d not forgotten her. As a matter of fact… he’d not forgotten anything in her life that happened yet. He’d been keeping tabs on her; more than he should have been.
A dark smile escaped him when the dusky pony hit head-first into the taller stallion. He watched her shake off the impact and looked up at him. From dazed eyes to wide, nearly slits, she stumbled backwards, trying to get as much distance between them.
“S-syndicate!”
He smiled even darker and wider when he came to realize she knew who he was. “Ah.. so you do remember me.” He drolled, looking over her. “You’ve grown so…” He took a deep intake of breath and let it out. “much.”
“Why are you here?” She growled, not letting her eyes stray off his.
“That’s no way to treat an old friend, Nite Watch.”
“Friend.” She spat, rage clear in her eyes.
The retort made him stomp at her, causing her to move back a little more. “Choose your words, wisely, sweet-stuff.” He advanced for her and to his advantage, he’d had her pinned in place. Syndicate leaned his head down to head level and whispered something in her ear before turning and walking away.
Nite Watch had stayed in place, trying to comprehend the information. Why had everything gone against her wishes?
Discord looked up and heard a slight commotion completely off of the happy vibe of talk. He took a quick peek up avoiding the view of other ponies.
What he saw was merely a pony being spit at then getting furious and walking away from nite “now what the heck was that all about?” He shook it off and went back to looking straight ahead
Nite Watch headed into the booth and sat between Time Step and Fog Lite; having had to shake off the rattling information that she was given by Syndicate. “So… did I miss anything?”
Nothing major had happened until Nite Owl’s name was called. Nite Watch, though out of it, had enough sense to stuff cotton in her ears before Fog Lite made the announcement of congratulations louder than anypony in that stadium. It hadn’t been that Nite Watch wasn’t proud of Nite Owl, but with so much on her mind, she only managed to whisper “Congratulations, my friend.” and smile toward her.
After the ceremony, Nite Watch stood outside the stadium a few hours after it had emptied out. She kept an eye out for the stallion, knowing he’d be back. “I love you guys, but I’m going to wait in the balloon.. I feel a little light headed.” She started away from her friends, hoping to draw the stallion out.
As if on cue, he stepped up to her looking down at her. “If you come quietly, I won’t have to hurt your friends.”
“I don’t have to go anywhere with you, Syndicate.” She continued to walk toward the balloon. If she at least reached the safety of the balloon look-outs she’d be out of danger.
But Syndicate was not about to let that be the case. She felt him stomp at the ground and pause. The steps behind her she couldn’t feel anymore. Briefly she wondered why, but the thought was an impact to her head, causing her to lose her consciousness. As long as she was awake, the spell would keep her atop the clouds as long as she was there. But out-cold it would die. Syndicate reared and prepared to stomp onto her; but in a second she fell through the cloud, plummeting toward the land below. He cursed out to his rage that he didn’t get to finish her off.
For a moment, Nite Watch opened her eyes to see where she was. She caught the sight of nothing but clouds passing over her and land below her. The sight of drop below caused her mind to go on overdrive. She was falling.
Discord was inside a cloud to avoid suspicion even though his horns and tail were sticking out “they won’t know it’s me” he chuckled looking around following nite through the ceremony “were is nite?” He couldn’t see her from the crowd “hmmmm?”
The cloud hovered around looking for nite but couldn’t find her “damn I can’t find her!” He smiled and sees her “oh finally there she is!” He hovered down but suddenly stopped as he saw the stallion slam her, his anger rises making his blood boil, something that hadn’t happened since the time the sisters had imprisoned him “what is he doing!”he snarled loudly
The final thing he saw was nite falling through the cloud making him gasp “oh no!” the few seconds that he remembered were him bolting out of the cloud and going straight for her as fast as he could trying to catch her. “come on discord!” He screamed to himself as he saw nite fall towards the floor
His effort paid off as he was able to catch up with her. One-half side of her face had been bloodied up from the impact and a hoof mark was on her neck. She was not going to heal very fast at this rate.
As Discord came into her view, she looked at him, half-lidded eyes showing the fear as clear as day. With what will-power she had, she whispered for his help before passing back out.
Discord swooped up and grabbed her before she fall anymore, he held her close to his fur matting it with blood “you’ll be okay for now nite” he held the limp body of nite as he hovered down to the ground.
He set her down onto the floor gently and tried his best to dry off the blood and clean the woun…
Easy ragged breaths hit Discord’s nose as the pony’s conscious mind began to kick in. Slowly and gradually, she started to take in her surroundings in her minds. Instead of feeling cold and helpless, she felt warm and supported. Fur rubbed against hers as someone else’s breathing moved against her body. This wasn’t another pony, she knew by the fur. This fur was fine and soft. She moved her head a bit, trying to open her eyes, but she was just too tired.
Nite Watch had vaguely remembered a Draconeques that had come into her view before she passed out from the impact and fear of hitting the ground. Her mind wondered if he had been the one to save her. She didn’t know who he was, but the first and only name that escaped her lips in her barely conscious state… /was his/.
Discord felt her moving a bit giving off a small sigh of relief„”oh good she’s okay” he whispers to himself as he wrapped his arms around her and snugged her closer to his chest.
His ear flicked when he heard nite say his name “she remembered my name” he chuckled “surprised she did though” he strokes her mane gently keeping her warm.
Nite Watch let her body rest for the time it needed before she finally opened her eyes. It was dark outside and she was laying on Discord, finding that he makes a rather comfortable bed. Her face throbbed from the impacted and it was swollen. She looked up at him and gave him the slightest of a nuzzle before letting her head fall back against his chest.
Discord slowly awoke from the nuzzle and her stirring, he smiles seeing her as he put his soft paw to her unswollen cheek and pressed her gently against his fur, “like I said there are still some things that care for you”
“Thank you.” She whispered, keeping her head tucked under his chin, looking for a state of security from the cool night air. She recognized him and his scent, but she didn’t know how. It didn’t matter though. Having someone with her now was all she cared about. “I owe you my life…” She continued, still barely a whisper.
