From my understanding, find somepony you'd like to roleplay with, make sure they'd like to, set down guidelines, and go. That is, if you're looking for private roleplaying.
Otherwise, just make status updates in character, and I'm sure somepony will see it and reply.
But, I'm a bright yellow Earth Pony on the internet, so my knowledge is at the whim of my 7th Wall, tippy typing on a keyboard.
