Chapter 2
Part 3, Rosa
Preamble

It's probably been awhile since life disturbed Rosa Cavalier. After her efforts to stave off the Warped three months ago, nothing of note has happened on that front. Seafoam should be glad for the gracious transition period. Of course there was the stated mare's disintegration, an event which in remedying made the pair into blood sisters. Said event aside, Rosa has been left to her own devices in life as she kept the world at a comfortable distance. Her new anchors, Alexander and Seafoam, kept her grounded in their own ways. One gave her a reason to keep going, while the other tied an immutable sense of presence to the larger world. The two Blood Tied mares could feel the other existing, their shared blood only strengthening that line. Rosa could observe the present Huntress grow from afar, sometimes even knowing her location with great concentration. That presence gradually grew as Seafoam practiced her various abilities, doubtless on the road to mastery in record time for a Huntress. The presence could assure Rosa that her choice was correct, and the title lay in good hooves.

Chapter 2
Part 3

Something different was happening tonight. The Blood Tie was... taut. Just last night the Tie was incrementally growing as usual, Seafoam was a diligent mare. But it suddenly doubled in strength, while still feeling like the same pony she knew. As though a fresh pair of hooves gripped their unusual line and added her strength. At her end Rosa could discern the ebb and flow of one strength overtaking another for a moment, then waning only to be compensated by the other. Out there in the distance, something really weird was happening to Seafoam But Seafoam at least felt ok. There was a silent quality - a way of peering into the Tie that let each mare know whether the other was in peril or not. This quality held normal, even with this unusual activity. Did Seafoam find some way to -- split or double her soul? Then something truly terrible ripped into being. An enormous presence that nearly pulled Rosa's mind from her body with its sudden presence. Distinct, but familiar, Rosa could not know what it was, or where it had come from. But she could feel one thing drilling through her: It was Seafoam. A terrifying, titanic soul which harbored some part of that mare. And after a moment to recuperate, she could sense that it broadcast one message. It was coming for them.

And of course Rosa retained this ability into her retirement. She was probably the most skilled vampire alive to this day. But, it was not enough tonight.

"Who by the sisters ar-" Seafoam wasn't even allowed her question, swat away by the towering foe. We didn't get a single attack in, yet Seafoam and I knew we were horrendously outmatched by this-- this fiend! She was injured by the blow, I could feel it in my heart. At least a fractured bone, if not a broken wing. This-- thing that appeared, and attacked us without warning, I will have no mercy upon her. I flare my wings and launch myself forward with all the speed I could muster from my wings, but, something new happened I could not explain. It were as if the air before me opened up and swallowed me whole...

Seafoam felt dazed, her vision double and limbs numb. Just then the mare gripped her by the neck and lift her off the ground with a single crushing wing. She choked and spat, desperately clutching at the feathers with her forelegs to wrench herself free. She estimated this absurd encounter had only last 5 seconds, and she was already battered in a deadly choke hold. She looked to Seafoam to gauge her proximity, and what the mare planned to do next. Of course, even in her dazed state Seafoam knew the plan: to summon Rovina and take the third Seafoam with a weapon that could truly do some harm. To her relief she was right. The Huntress poised for a fly-by, and would summon Rovina just before striking. But then, the air opened in front of her, and the mare that was her hope simply - vanished. Seafoam had no time to process this sight before a stunning gut punch flattened her diaphragm. Her eyes shot wide, pupils tight, then she fell slump in her captor's hold. "Hmm." The elder mare turned her head toward the approaching Rosa, who she could sense through the Blood Tie. "She's stronger in this time than I thought. And she's angry too~ I forgot what her anger feels like." The mare chuckled, and tossed the debilitated Huntress aside. Rosa would soon be on top of them. "You're a little early, Rosa. I've more prey to catch." And with that, the elder Seafoam teleport again with a sharp implosion of darkness. Off to another side of Equestria, where she recalled Hawk of the Reborn to be. (see chapter 2, Hawk) The door to Seafoam's family door swung limp on its hinges. Sway had burst through them after the fighting started, though his mother and the identical Seafoam had gone Stargazing together a short distance away. Sway only arrived to what we could generously call a battleground moments before Rosa. He was standing over his fallen mother, swiveling his head about to find her attacker...

He lay just outside what looked like an eruption point in the floorboards with no traceable cause, leaving splintered wood all about the cabin. Being a vampire herself, Rosa would recognize this as a highly precise shadow walk. With unsealed access to the space between the floor and ground below, this Warped vampire had burst from below the floorboards. There was no practical reason to destroy the floor, other than intimidate her target. Hawk had clearly been looking through the hole created in the opposite wall, a viewport to the dangers outside without thick glass for protection. It granted the Rosa a view of the waters she's entered. The Bermuda Triangle has her. Seafoam actively bled from her foreleg now, but that still didn't stop her from giving this invader everything she had. From powerful kicks to swipes with a foreign blade that clearly was not Star Touched, she even tried some blood magic to toss sharpened droplets from her bleeding leg at the Warped. It was impressive at her skill level. But nothing made it through the decades-thick shadow armor her foe boasted. So refined it was even etched with depictions of her exploits, by itself it made her impervious to the weaker mare. One might think Rosa went unheard through this commotion, but the vampires heard her well. The unconscious stallion did not. "Well said." The armor-clad mare said in a delicious, velvety voice. An age of practice and slight change of dialect made it different from Seafoam's as Rosa knew it, yet had clear ripples of the Huntress. Seafoam swung again, but was easily parried into a left hook to the jaw. She fumbled to recover, only to receive a precice follow-up to the muscles under her wing, stunning her out of her natural flight and shortly tumbling to the ground. The Warped turned to Rosa and sneered victoriously, a wave of intent rushing to Rosa by the Blood Tie: She knew all of her own tricks and fighting styles. When this beatdown is finished, she has plans for her. "Sister, you're so ferocious at this age." She took a deep breath through her nose, appraising a sweet, chocolatey vapor she couldn't resist. Yes the Blood Tie was very strong with such powerful ponies this close together, and she relished in it. "We can have tea after this, my treat. I know all of your favorites~" Intent revealed she did know Rosa's favorites, and that the tea would be pleasant. But only a front for some kind of... talk? Rosa would be unpracticed at reading the Blood Tie, so it was often unclear even at such proximity. The fact she can read this much into it should show how advanced the Warped mare is compared to Seafoam, who transmit no such signals. She moved to stomp on Seafoam, who shadow walked away just in time, appearing from behind with an immediate stab with the blade. It merely chipped some of the armor as it deflected. This frustrated her greatly, but she wasn't going to back out of the fight. Not this one!
