As a spanish speaker who also knows french and is learning german, I relate. There are so many things in english can’t be said unless you really twist things around because they don’t have complex forms. There are ways to say things differently but you really have to experiment.

Oh, I wouldn’t call it screwy, it is a very flexible language. Because of the way it evolved it never needed to develop certain verbal tenses or phrase structures. Yeah of course, every language does. There is one thing I do love about Spanish though and it's the tacit subject, not many languages have it and it's such a wonderful thing to have. :c Not having to ALWAYS say what or who is doing things because it is implied by the verbal form is very resourceful.
