I can't speak for the rest of the car but the engine is a rotary which are well known for constantly breaking. Granted they're supposedly quick and easy to fix but they still break a fair bit more than a normal engine.

There is a huge community of them in the UK as they sold very well, and as they are counted as a 1.3L the insurance is stupid cheap.
