View MoreSorry, I was half asleep before. I will elaborate now c: I personally took to Firealpaca well because I started drawing on MS paint. For context, I tried to switch out to other Software (like Photoshop and Paint Tool SAI) but I never really adapted. So, I think Firealpaca is a nice software for a beginner level artist, or a hobbyist. It has a very handy global stabilizer tool if you work with mouse (I do) that allows you to draw smoother lines without the need of a tablet. It also has onion layers, you can turn anti-alias on and off, it has free custom brushes you can directly download from the Software, you can also make your own brushes and save them, it has the wand tool, the fill tool, you can stabilize different tools to different settings or just use global settings, it has an animation setting, etc… As for drawing… Work with references! Tracing specifically is looked down upon when you upload stuff and pretend like you made it when you’re actually tracing from someone else’s work. But it is a wonderful thing to do on your own time for practice. That’s how you build muscle and eye memory. You have to get a feel of where things should be, and tracing from photographs or even other drawing styles you find aesthetically pleasing is an effective way to build your own skill. But I do mean that as just a practice technique. The whole point of you doing that is that eventually you’ll be able to visualize what you want and you’ll be able to draw something that looks decent without needing to base it off a model. Even still, keep in mind that having a reference you can look at while you’re working DOES make a world of difference! Don’t shy away from references. You might even end up learning a tidbit of anatomy while drawing hahahah. Understanding how a body moves is very important for making it look good! I don’t really do all these all the time, but my best works have always been ones where I was taking my craft more seriously and put a little science into it. So, that’s my recommendation uvu!
