*continuation of The new bloom*
Honey was slowly relaxing from the sudden shock of the experimental magic. It felt stretched out and a little sore. It was feeling something new. Something moving inside of it. Honey ignored this for now and opened its cleched petals. It was overwhelmed by the sudden and surprising light. The light seemed to dim down for Honey and it took in the surroundings. Green everywhere. Plants that were previously systems of colored light were now different than what Honey had imagined. A stream of blue now sits in place of the water that roots stretched for. And in front of Honey was a small mare. She was pale looking, had dark hair decorated with leaves and branches, a green and brown scarf and an old book at her side. Honey sat in silence until the mare spoke in awe.
"Wow... It worked. It really worked..."
That voice... That was the same voice that previously towered above Honey. This... Couldn't be Silk Root.... Could it?
Honey sat in shocked silence before being fully aware of the fact that it had a hole in its face. Wind blew to reveal appendages on its head and made Honey realize that sometimes everything would go dark for a moment. Looking up, Honey could see small colored strands coming from its head. Now looking for what else had change in a somewhat panicked manner, Honey looks down to notice its long leaves moving around. It had to breathe more through the small holes above the bigger hole that seemed to work similarly to stomata. Honey returned its focus to the mare and tried to speak a question but felt the large hole in its face open a bit as well as a light vibration from within. Suddenly, memories of what Silk had taught Honey came rushing back and it realized that hole was a mouth. Silk looked back expectantly though a glint of worry showed more and more with each passing second. It took Honey a bit but eventually got a basic idea of how talking works.
"This... Wasss... What you were... Expecting?"
Honey's words were slightly drawn out.
"Well... Not exactly... I was hoping to make you fully pony but... This is even better!"
Honey had never heard Silk so excited. It made it happy.
Silk rushed around Honey, examining it and speaking so fast that it couldn't keep up. Eventually, Silk came to a stop right back in her spot in front of Honey.
"Just... Wow...."
Silk's excited expression changed to a more calm look.
"Sorry... You must be so confused. I hope you're okay?"
Honey looked down and pushed its leaves against the ground to try shift away from the sudden uncomfort. Silk took notice.
"What's the matter?"
"Something is.... Uncomfortable. Need to... Stretch."
As Honey finished its sentence, it tried moving its roots around. The ground seemed to split open as odd tentacles arose. They stretched out soon relaxed. These were Honey's roots. Silk was fascinated. She looked at roots and back up to Honey.
"You can move your roots?!"
"It seems... Like it..."
"Can you stand?"
Honey thought a bit before moving its roots to press against the ground, lifting Honey up from the crater it sat in. They felt unstable so Honey wrapped a few smaller roots to the larger ones. A bit of balancing later, and Honey was standing like a spider. Then, it tried walking, moving the roots and shifting its weight. It could actually walk. Looking back, Silk beamed as bright as the sun.
"Oh.... My.... Celestia.... This is amazing! We meed to examine this more! Come on! Follow me!"
Honey was a little confused but followed Silk anyway. They were best friends and seeing her happy made Honey happy. It faltered in stance a bit along the way but didn't fall. Honey stared at the forest in awe of what it would have missed. The trek was relatively short but for someone who hasn't walked ever, it's quite a journey. Silk's house was a small cabin decorated similarly like Silk herself expect with a few more things. A large "shed" stood behind it. It was a little rundown looking. Silk walked up to the porch and turned around, exclaiming "Here we are!" before realizing that Honey couldn't fit inside. It was okay. Honey didn't need to live inside. But Silk insist that travellers pass by her house. She worries what they might do if the see a giant pony flower. She asks of Honey to at least live in her backyard and hide in the shed when someone passes. Honey agrees. After all, it gets to live with its best friend. A few days pass with this arrangement working if not for a few close calls because of incoordination. The shed was a bit stuffy and very cluttered. Honey didn't like it too much in there but occasionally found a cool hiding spot. Honey learned sleepy quickly and had to sleep every night. When it wakes up early, it waits by the window for Silk to wake up as well. Sometimes, Honey could hear Silk mumble about it in her sleep. She sometimes referred to Honey as "her." Honey didn't have a gender but it... Made it feel special. Made her feel special. She can't wait for what her life will be like in the future.
