"Go where the wind blows," I always say
As I gaze upon the tree by the bay.
Spending the day, watching it sway
Ocean's breeze pointing it the right way.
From when we were young, both scared and frail,
As life had yet to set sail,
Our roots unsound, not yet deep
The years ahead seemed so steep.
Yet, you knew to stand strong.
You knew to be resilient.
You knew Mother Nature's direction was nothing short of brilliant.
Even under storms at their harshest
And winds at their gustiest,
Nothing was insurmountable,
Our spirit never compromisable.
Now I stand before you today,
My tree by the bay.
Our roots well-established
Us standing tall and firm
Us brancing out to new endeavors.
It may be love
It may be new places
It may be serving sweet treats to new smiling faces.
As we grow wise from whatever life throws,
We both know
To go where the wind blows.
