"You're the son of... Sombra?" the white Alicorn was utterly stupefied. "The Shadow Usurper king? The King of Umbrums-" he was cut off from listing the names of the Umbrum with a sharp tone.
"Yes, THAT Sombra!" Clever sighed, a look of irritation settling in his features. "I'm the son of Sombra, please don't make a big deal about it, alright?" his words and hoofsteps echoed in the crystal throne room as he paced in a small circle. "Please, don't be like the others and assume I'm evil just because HE was. I'm not like HIM." his tone was aggressive with a hint of underlying... sadness? The smaller prince watched the Umbrum.
"I wasn't going to assume that," his words made Clever stop in his pacing. "It's just- I never knew Sombra had children. It was never mentioned in the myths." Clever shook his head slightly at this.
"Because very few actually knew." Clever's voice had softened at this point. "I try to keep the attention off of myself. I don't want ponies just assuming that I'm going to do something as bad as he did... evil is something you have to be taught. It's not a hereditary trait, it's not like eye color."
"So...is that why you were summoned here?" Snow Dust wasn't sure how else to phrase his question.
"Well, yes and no..." he shrugged, the crystals on his shoulders glinting like the others adorning the room. "If I was to be given a home here, I had to be 'treated'." he started. "Umbrums are affected by the Crystal Heart's magic. It doesn't feel good, but I know it's just doing its job to protect the Crystal Ponies and ward off dark magics."
"So Cadence was trying to help you." Snow Dust finished, a smile crossing his face. To this, Clever nodded.
"Yes, she was helping me so I wouldn't be affected by its magic. I will be able to live here comfortably without being shunned by the Heart." Snow Dust's smile didn't falter as the two made their way to the door to leave the castle.
