Amidst the townsfolk roaming the streets of the town sat a loner, positioned upon a bench along the side of the dusty outstretched road. View MoreAmidst the townsfolk roaming the streets of the town sat a loner, positioned upon a bench along the side of the dusty outstretched road. They wore a cloak yet the hood was down against his shoulders, revealing his scarred face and a subtle look of concentration. A set of swords sat propped up against the bench next to him, tucked within sheathes and wrapped carefully within cloth for easy transportation. On the other side sat an open book, a bestiary to be specific, its age showing from the weathering evident upon the pages. Safe to say, he wasn’t inviting others to join him for a seat. He was busy sifting through a bulging pouch of coin, a reward recently reaped from yet another successful hunt. The reward didn’t come without a cost however, evident from the dirtied and subtly bloodied bandaging wrapped securely around his shoulder. Stable enough to satisfy him for the moment, at least till he could rest and let his body and elixirs do their thing. His golden gaze darted up upon hearing a voice, keen senses detecting the stranger long before she even came into sight. He peered down the street to spot the source approaching, but ultimately decided to mind his own business. He’d look back down at the coin, softly groaning to himself when he realized he had lost his count. It wasn’t until that stranger walked by did he look up, seemingly just in time too as she gave him a little side eye in return before demonstrating her capabilities. He’d cock a brow in momentary confusion as his gaze washed over her, soaking up the little details before settling on her eyes of violet. “Nice trick.” He remarked with an air of light sarcasm, adding on. “This the part where I’m supposed to clap?” A small little smirk tugged its way onto his face, quickly fading as eyes fell to the pouch of coin in his hoof as he gave it a little shake with a scoff. “If you’ve come looking for coin, you’re talking to the wrong guy.” Almost in disbelief, he couldn’t help but ask with a subtle tilt of his head. “Your plan is to just let me.. ride you?”

She's had multiple ponies who've ridden her time and time again, but it must feel different now that she's not being mounted by a foal or an elderly upperclass stud. Having someone that doesn't pull on the reins with zero concept of balance is both strange, but relieving. Quickly, the mare quits playing with the bit in her mouth trying to find a fine way to get it set, and she relaxes her jaw, allowing her shanked a bit to fall into place naturally, noticing that it isn't being held. While things have been equipped to her saddle before, it's a strange feeling to feel weapons gently tapping against her hindquarters as they rhythmically swing side to side with each step of her pace. "You too. Gear's fine." Slowly, she extends her legs outward more, and straightening her head against her poll to look directly in front of herself. The mare speeds up into a rack ; it's typically something only traditional unicorns can do due to their thinness and weight, but she's learned to pick it up before going into a gallop. Her are reaching far under her belly, pinto-colored appendages speeding up and yet, her head and body relatively staying the same height. She levels her back out and downward, causing the saddle to lower a little. Shank lowers her lower jaw, speaking without having to move her mouth much, and using her bit as a stopgap instead of her tongue. "Folks have tried. They forget something, though." The mare then speeds up into a speed rack ; it's a faster version of the rack which is between a canter and a gallop in terms of speed. It seems that her being a gaited hybrid is not specific to her as an individual but it might be a trait that is naturally given by one's breed, and it can be understood that that is one of the things that makes her marketing of her services so profitable. "We can easily bite an ear off. Tongue, even. Tail. I can run them down for hours without rest. I don't recall the last time I'd slept, either."
