View MoreGray also didn’t ask anything for the time being, not until they arrived home. Lucky for the pair, it seemed that they were the only ones around. Secretly, Gray had been wishing to avoid the confrontation though. Even as he sat down, like Papillon signaled him, he was hoping for a distraction, anything to avoid the discomfort. But nothing, it was just her and him there. And she began… Something was inherently wrong, though he couldn’t put his finger on it at first. And the problem is that he’s never seen that side of Papillon, the tired and vulnerable Papillon, the one that was sincere. The one who wasn’t trying to flirt, and the one who wasn’t doting on him. Gray had averted his eyes from her at first, but now he couldn’t quite take them away from her figure as she moved to sit next to him, posing him questions only to answer them on her own. All he could do was shake his head and watch, and listen, of course… He had formulated this image of Papillon, a picture that no longer fit the reality of who she was. How were they dating…? Why did he never know any of this? …How could he say that he loved her when he never even knew who she was? Gray swallows in an effort to clear the tight sensation around his throat. To be faced with the fact that he’d only been thinking about himself the entire time, and not about her? It was rough. Gray shifts uncomfortably in place and takes a deep breath once she’s relayed her reasons to him. She looked so… real and raw… In a way Gray had not ever seen until now. He turns his eyes from her and down to the floor, also scrubbing at his neck anxiously. “I’m sorry… I had no idea.” He responds briefly. What else could he say, really…? “It’s… weird… how we never talked about this before, huh?” the actor tries to ease the tension by forcing a little smile. “I mean, it’s not the kind of thing that you can just bring up mid conversation, I guess?” “…I had no idea, Papillon.” He finally turns to her and smiles softly despite the unceasing frown. “Your job is clearly very important to you. I don’t want to be an obstacle; I promise I won’t be one.” Gray nods. “If you have to stay, then you have to stay. I won’t pressure you to come home anymore.” He nods again, reassuringly. He holds the grin for as long as he’s turned in her direction, but when he momentarily looks away, it drops. “…I disagree that…” he exhales. “That that’s the only thing you’re good for. I understand where you’re coming from, I really do. But I…” he frowns. -Where in that universe do you fit? …And why do you think you deserve to be there? You’re not more important. Should you be prioritized? She has somewhere to be, her priorities are pure of heart… Where are yours? Do you have heart at all? Self-serving blood-sucking bug; None at all! Look at her, she was smiling when you met her, why’s she nearly in tears now? And why, because you’re so important, should everybody drop everything for you? You’re lucky she keeps you around, what do you bring to the table? Deadweight! Become too heavy and if she’s smart, she’ll drop you; if she’s not you both go down.- “…Ah, it doesn’t matter! …You know what? We’re both tired and hungry, why don’t we find something to eat instead?” he shifts, smiling dumbly again.

View MoreGray remains mostly motionless at his little corner of the couch, despite his attempt to derail the conversation somewhere else, he’s looking at her and can see that she’s about to crack. It’s a horrible sight really, to see such a composed individual crumble under pressure. Specially because he felt responsible for it. Somehow another emotion surfaced from what was mostly guilt, and it was fear. The idea of Papillon opening up to him and sharing details of her life with him, things she hadn’t told anybody else from the sounds of it; and the fact that she was openly showing her emotions to him? It all was terrifying; it had paralyzed him. The moment he realized it, Gray truly felt an impulse to run for the hills, but her wings spread and wrapped him, gently bringing him down against her chest. “….!” He rolls his eyes up to gaze at her. It’s all he does for about 3 seconds. He simply listens to her breathing and her heart, feels her warmth… Slowly but surely, he limps over her. It’s too late to run away now; he’s in this with Papillon. Even though it seemed that there was no place for him in her world, she was clutching just as much as he was. Gray sighs softly. “But Papillon, you’re already better.” he breaks the momentary silence. “Maybe there was a time in your life where you had to put everything into perfecting your craft but you… already did that. You’re already the angel… Besides, how can you not have passion yet work so hard anyway? I know that you couldn’t do it if you weren’t passionate for it. There isn’t a single creature in this world that can put that much effort into something they do not care about.” Gray breathes in “…I’m sorry if I was imposing. I hope you don’t think ill of me because of how I’ve been acting.” He pauses with hesitance. There were other things he wanted to say, somehow, he couldn’t bring himself to do it. “Besides… you did have a life; remember? Maybe you just forgot. But you had a life too, I’m sure you had friends… was your husband not your friend?” he smiles briefly. “… Am I not your friend?”
