//WARNING: Some of the events in this story may be disturbing to certain people. I've made sure to keep everything site appropriate, and avoid Gore/Grimdark, but you shouldn't read this story if "messed up serial killer quirks" disturb you.
8:12 PM: Seyne Residence, East of Las Pegasus.
6 armed, and armored creatures gather around the front entrance to the two story suburban home. 5 of the creatures wear vests with "SWAT" on the front and back, with the sixth wearing a vest that reads "MEDIC." The team knows little to nothing about what they're about to see other than knowing they're facing a very dangerous, and potentially mentally ill criminal. The team has just finished their radio check. It's time to enter the building.
The lead officer removes a tool from his belt, and uses it to pick the lock of the front door. Once unlocked he opens the door, and allows the bulky earth pony carrying a shield to enter first. The rest of the team files in afterwards with the medic staying outside until she's told the room is safe. Officer Brick thoroughly scans what he can see. They're in a foyer leading to three separate areas. It's difficult to see since the lights are off, but he can tell there are stairs going up to his right, a hallway to a bigger room in front of him, and a wooden door to his left. A quiet voice comes in over his radio. "T.O.C, Entry Team. We've entered the target building." Followed by "Rodger that Entry Team. Keep us posted."
Sergeant Pin assesses the area, and keys his radio. "Team, stack up on the door to the left. Medusa, get in here, and cover the stairway. Flare, cover the hallway." The paramedic waiting outside removes her service pistol from its holster, and enters the building. She takes up a position a few feet from the foot of the stairs. The pegasus who had entered last trains his SMG down the hallway in front, sticking close to the doorway. The other four stack up next to the door on the left, and open it. The four man team enters what appears to be the garage to find two cars parked inside. There are shelves filled with what looks to be old possessions, but the officers find no one inside the garage. The team exits after a thorough search, and reforms in the foyer. The paramedic stays at the stairway with her pistol at the ready. The lead officer keys in his radio once more. "On me. We're headed down the hallway. Brick, you're up."
The shield-bearing earth pony stands in front of the hallway with the other 4 officers behind him. He slowly makes his way through the hallway taking care to look for any doors, or hatches on the walls, ceiling, or floor. He finds none, and exits the hallway into a lavish French Country styled living room. A search of the room reveals a connected kitchen, sliding glass door to the backyard, decor, furniture, a large TV, and entertainment system filled with all sorts of media. Everything is immaculate, clean, and organized. A search of the kitchen yields no results. Once they have searched every crack and crevice, and are certain there's no one hiding in the room the team heads back to the foyer to check upstairs.
With Brick in the lead the team makes their way carefully up the stairs. The stairs lead to the second floor with a hallway leading left, and right. The left side has one door on the left, and a door at the end. The right has a door on the left, and right with a door at the end. The team checks the left side first. The find an empty guest bedroom, and a bathroom. Both rooms yield no results. Heading to the right the team first checks the door on the left. They find a master bedroom with a connected bathroom, but no occupants. After exiting the master bedroom the team stacks up on the right door, and checks it. It's locked. Using a special tool, Officer Spade is able to see what's on the other side of the door through a space between the door, and the floor. "One mare, and two children inside. Looks like they're getting ready for bed." Upon hearing who was inside Asuka feels her heart stop for a moment. She'd heard about the suspect having a family during the briefing, but she didn't expect there to be two children.
Officer Pin unlocks the door, and opens it. As the door opens the mare inside swings around with a terrified look in her eyes. "Hooves in the air! Get on the ground!" Pin shouts with his rifle aimed at the mare. "D-don't shoot! I'm not armed!" At first the mare is terrified. Asuka is certain she's fearing for herself, and her children, but why would she be? Didn't she know what SWAT officers looked like? The officers enter the room with Pin quickly, and easily restraining the mare. "Take it easy. We're not going to hurt you, or your children." Pin's voice is soft, and reassuring. The mare is quiet, and still. "Do you know where your husband is?" Pin waits for an answer, but doesn't get one. "Ma'am. Do you know where-" The mare interrupts him, her whole body beginning to tremble. "He's not my husband." A pause. "These aren't my children." Now she begins to sob. "Please help us. I-I want to see my family. They miss their parents. He kidnapped us. Please." Pin turns to his team. "Medusa, check them for any injuries. Flare, keep her covered. Brick, cover the stairs. Rat, Spade, with me."
Asuka kneels next to the mare as she begins to check her for any sort of bruises, scratches, or other wounds. She can't find any injuries. The mare sobs as she begins to speak to Asuka. "Please get us out of here. He's coming back. He's going to kill us if we stay here. Please don't let him hurt the children." Asuka reassures the mare as best she can. "Don't worry. You're going to be okay. We'll get you out of here. He's going to be caught, and locked away." She can hear the children under their covers whimpering. They're too afraid to move. Asuka's about to speak to them when she hears the front door being opened. There's a shout from the hallway. "FREEZE! HOOVES IN THE AIR!" There's a pause. Sergeant Pin walks past the room towards the stairs. "I SAID PUT YOUR HOOVES UP, AND GET ON THE GROUND! NOW!" She can hear Brick shouting at someone. "KNIFE!" Followed by Pin shouting "DROP IT! DROP THE KNIFE!" "STAY WHERE YOU ARE AND DROP THE KNIFE!"
Asuka sees the mare flinch as five shots in total are fired from the hallway. Seconds later she hears Pin's voice in the radio. "Entry Team to T.O.C. Suspect has been killed." She quickly turns to tell the mare and children that the "bad man" is gone, and they're safe when she hears Brick over the radio. "holy shit. There's someone in the suitcase. She's alive." For a second the radio is silent. Just enough time for Asuka to hear the mare sob. "The attic. She's in the attic."
Asuka keys her radio. "Sergeant. I think this woman just told me someone's in the attic." Pin responds. "Attic?" followed by a small pause. "Brick. Keep an eye on the suspect. Team, check for an entrance to the attic." Asuka stays with the mare and children as the other four officers search the upstairs area for an entrance for an attic. It isn't until Spade, and Flare open the final door that they find something. "Boss. We've got some stuff in the upstairs closet. Looks like a-...Holy Sigmund Freud..." Spade stops speaking, and Flare chimes in. "There's an entrance to the attic here, and some very damning evidence. Uh. You might want to keep Medusa away from this." Asuka can see Pin and Rattail make their way to the closet. There's some muffled chatter from the closet followed by a "CHUNK" and someone climbing a ladder.
"AUHG!" Rattail's voice comes through the radio. "It's-" She can hear Rattail gag through the radio. "Anyone got their respirator on hand?" Asuka doesn't know exactly what happened next, but she hears someone else go into the attic, followed by Pin radioing in. "T.O.C. We've got an unidentified victim in the attic... She's alive. We need some bolt cutters, a suit, and an ambulance." Asuka can barely make out a weak voice quietly pleading for help through the radio. Taking a peek into the hallway she can see Rattail, Spade, and Flare standing outside the closet with Pin seemingly in the attic. Flare re-enters the room allowing Asuka to go investigate. "Where are you going Medusa?" Flare asks. "They need an ambulance right? I need to get up there and see what's wrong." Flare attempts to stop her, but she's already in the hallway before he can block the door. Neither Spade, nor Rattail seem to notice her before she enters the closet.
Asuka calls out from the ladder. "Sargent, do you need me up there?" Pin's voice calls back. "No. Stay down there. We need someone with heavy duty biohazard gear to get up here. "Rodger." Asuka responds. She goes around the ladder to hear Spade say "Don't go back there. You're not gonna like what you see." Doing exactly as she shouldn't, Asuka ignores the warning, and pushes through coats, jackets, and robes to find a small area hidden behind it all. Using her flashlight Asuka illuminates a cork board with dozens of pictures pinned to it. On the left, and right she sees pictures of various mares, but what she finds in the middle shakes her to her core. There's at least 20 photos of her pinned to the board. One in the middle appears to be of the photo she took at the summit of Mount Lunae, and it's been circled with a red marker.
The rest of the operation is a blur to Asuka. At some point she apparently had blacked out, and woke up outside the house helping the paramedics load someone into their ambulance. Once it's all over she returns to the station for debrief, and after 30 minutes she's released, and ready to go home. She picks up her phone, and sends Gray a text to let him know.
