//Part two of the series featuring 2 characters I've been allowed to borrow. Music included.
Asuka and Nar had been on the road for only two days, and they already found their food supply starting to run low. If they wanted to make it to Canterlot they'd have to stop regularly to gather supplies. This would be a much simpler task if it weren't for the fact that pretty much every place you could find supplies was either crawling with zombies, already looted, or both. The duo had already passed through, or by a few small settlements, but they'd yet to stop until now.
When the two had a choice between stopping at a cabin in the woods, or going into the small town nearby they chose the town. There would likely be more zombies, but there were also likely more supplies to be found. As the car pulls up alongside a small fast food joint the two check their weapons, and prepare to exit their car.

The duo exits their vehicle, and proceeds past a nearby trio of undead to head into the restaurant ahead. Asuka carries an aluminum baseball bat, while Nar has a heavy wrench in his magical grasp. The inside of the restaurant itself seemed largely untouched save for the few bits of trash on the floor. Without missing a beat Nar heads past the counter, and begins rummaging behind it for foodstuffs. "3 month old cookies, some cracker packets, and a boatload of mustard... Why mustard? Aren't the only people who like mustard weirdos like me?" Asuka heaves a shrug as she heads past her cousin into the kitchen. There she spots a rather pristine chef's knife. Figuring it could come in handy Asuka takes the knife, and carefully stows it in a pocket of her backpack. Nar scoots past Asuka as she checks the kitchen. He enters the back area of the restaurant to find the dry storage, and cooler areas. He thinks about opening the cooler, but decides against doing so. If there's anything in there it's likely rotted by now, and the smell would be horrible.
In the very back of the store Nar enters the dry storage area to find many styrofoam plates and take out boxes. It looked like all of the foodstuffs had been looted, until Nar moved a box of generic 'secret recipe' sauce to find a treasure trove of croutons. 4 bags of perfectly sealed, dried bread cubes, ripe for the taking. "Well, it's better than nothing." He grabs the bags, and stows them into his backpack before returning to the kitchen with Asuka. He finds Asuka raiding a supply of honey mustard. When she notices Nar giving her 'the look' she simply looks him in the eyes and says "It'll make things taste better."
With the back thoroughly inspected Nar takes the lead to head back into the dining room. He finds a zombie standing in front of the counter trying to reach over and grab him. Without thinking Nar grabs the jug of mustard sitting under the counter with his magic, and bashes the zombie over the head with it. The zombie crumples into a puddle of mustard, and the two not-undead quickly exit the building.
The next building the two enter is a small hardware store. They have to clear out a few undead once inside, but find the effort to not be a total waste. "Oh sweet! Dibs on the sledgehammer!" Nar excitedly rushes forwards to pick up a piece of equipment laying against a shelf. The sledgehammer appeared to have already been used, but there was no sign of the user. Asuka finds herself a few bags of snack chips, and some recently expired soda. All things considered, a decent haul from a hardware store.
The cousins not-so-methodically go from building to building, looting what they can. (Which turns out to be not much more than the first two buildings.) When they enter a two story apartment block Asuka stops while Nar breaks into an apartment with his new toy. After the door is broken down Asuka tells Nar to stop for a second. He complies, and the two stand still as they listen intently.
Tap tap tap. Tap tap tap.
BANG BANG BANG.
Something was starting to make quite the ruckus on the second floor. Instead of looting the first apartment the two elect to head upstairs, and check the source of the sound. They head up a flight of questionably stable stairs and enter the hallway of the second floor of the building. Just a few doors down the two see one of the doors on the left blocked by a pile of rubble. From within they can hear what sounds like stomping, then muffled shouting. Without a word the two hurry to the rubble, and work together to begin clearing it. Once enough of the rubble has been cleared in order for an opening to form a mouth appears in the hole to speak. "Hello? Is someone out there? Please help! We're stuck!" Something about the voice seemed all too familiar to Asuka. She and Nar work even quicker to clear the debris. After about 2 minutes they clear enough debris to enter the apartment.
Upon seeing the interior of the apartment Asuka is bewildered. The two stallions inside are just as perplexed as Asuka is. The silent confusion is only broken when Nar states. "Oh hey! It's Asuka's boyfriend!" Just on the other side of the door, a gray stallion stares at his rescuers. Behind him sits a more gruff, red stallion with a five-o-clock shadow sitting against the apartment's wall. There's a six-shot revolver in his right hoof. "Well howdy Ms. Snowmare." Asuka couldn't believe it. "Gray? Carmine? What? Why are you-?" Asuka's train of thought stops when she finally gets a good look at Carmine sitting against the wall. His back left leg has been crudely wrapped with a hand towel, and it looks to be quite bent. Asuka shoves past Gray who has yet to do anything more than stutter. She immediately gets to work setting Carmine's leg, cleaning his wound, and re-wrapping it with actual gauze. "It's nice to see you again too Asuka." Carmine shakes his head, only to wince, and muffle a scream as his leg makes a loud popping sound. Asuka is as deadpan as ever with her greeting. "Alright, how did you two end up in this situation?" She doesn't even bother to look up at Carmine, instead focusing on his leg.
Carmine draws a deep breath, and looks up to Gray who has still yet to say a word. "Well, Gray and I ended up in this small town on our way to Vanhoover. It was perfectly fine when we got here, but then some bandits came by, and we ended up hiding in this apartment for a few days. Zombies came by, one of the bandits found us, I fought him off, and he somehow blocked us in here." The answer Carmine provided didn't seem to work very well for Asuka. "That's great, but how did you break your leg." Carmine sighs. "The bandit had a big nail bat, and hit me in the leg." Before Asuka can say anything Gray blurts out a second part to the answer. "I freaked out when the bandit came in, and tried to attack him with a chair. I accidentally hit Carmine and broke his leg." This causes Carmine to lower his head, and Asuka to sigh. She wasn't about to lecture them. At least, not here. "Nar, get over here and help me lift Carmine up." The straw hatted stallion standing in the doorway nods, and makes his way into the apartment to help Carmine onto his hooves/feet. Once Carmine was up Nar helped guide him out of the apartment, and down the stairs.
The four ponies exit the apartment building, and head for the car Asuka and Nar came in. They dump their loot into the trunk, and everyone hops into the car. Nar sits in the driver seat, Gray takes the passenger seat, and Asuka sits in the back with Carmine to treat his leg. As the car pulls out of the town Asuka begins her hour-long lecture to Carmine and Gray. It was going to be a long day for the two new additions.
