The Man Turned a Monster, Part 2

There once lived a man, full of spirit, and cheer. Though raised by parents who cared very little, he found comfort in the company of his friends. In particular, he grew close with his cousins, whom he regarded as sisters. As the man grew up, he declared his intent to combat the darkness of the world with kindness, and joy. Near the end of his school years, the man met a cursed girl, who had been rejected by the world. He showed her kindness, and instilled in her a hope that she could live a normal life, despite her curse. In time, the two grew close, and formed a romantic bond which seemed almost invincible. For 3 years, the two faced the hardships of life together, and for those 3 years, all was well. After the pair had spent so long working on all of the damage the curse had done to the woman, it seemed as though she may finally live the life she'd so desperately wanted. However, though she tried, the woman could not combat her curse forever. After those three years, the curse began to eat away at the cracks. The woman began to spiral down the dark path the man had helped her out of. Despite this, he remained steadfast in his love, and promised to help her once more. Only, this time, the woman refused his help. Fearing her curse hurting him too, she became defensive, and pushed him away. The man tried his best to remain patient, and weather the storm, but the stresses of his own life soon caught up to him. After a brief, but explosive argument, the man left the cursed woman, and the two went their separate ways. In turn, the man clung to his cousin tighter, and tighter. Their bond grew even stronger, and the two felt as though they could take on the world together. Life was good for the man. He enjoyed his career, the company of his friends, the shows he played with his band, and the city he lived in. One day, the man's cousin left for a sabbatical on a mountain, and when she returned, life changed for the two. Strange occurrences became common, and soon after, the cousin felt the only way to resolve them was to return to the mountain. When she returned a second time, she came with news. She had only returned to say goodbye to friends, and family, as she would become the Keeper of this mountain. Though it crushed his heart, the man supported his cousin, and bade her good luck. Things remained fairly well in the man's life for a time, but as you may know, all good things must come to an end.
