I convince them by being a bioterrorist. Give them a warning throat gurgle after a breath-losing cough, and if they don't yield, phlegm the doctor into submission.
I never had pneumonia, thankfully, back when my asthma was still a problem- I haven't had issues with it in years, but I also hadn't had seizures in years until one or two years ago
