Orangutan is from the Indonesian/Malaysian words "Orang Hutan". "Orang" = People and "Hutan" = Jungle/Forest. Forest People. This is purely speculation, but it sounds oddly similar to Paul Bunyan. Are they one and the same, or do they know each other on a first name basis?
