View MoreAnd he knew she was. He didn't dare look back as the stallion ventured back onto the path and towards town. He hummed to himself as his purple gaze kept jumping around to different spots with evident intention. He appeared to be looking for something, but it wasn't obvious what. His ears flickered at the growing hustle and bustle of daily life as the two walked amidst the busy town. He observed storefronts and stopped to peek down alleyways before continuing onwards. The only theme consistent with his gaze was places with few ponies around. He eventually eyed what appeared to be a storage shed. It wasn't receiving much attention. Who cared about a bunch of brooms? He looked around and approached it until reaching for the door and opening it. It opened outward. Apparently, nobody cared enough to even lock it. It was just a shed, harbouring supplies to keep the streets clean. Small and cramped. Just brooms. He then closed it and pulled out the key. It was unusual, strange. It looked like a crooked facsimile of one and seemed archaic. The base of the key had an embedded crystal. It had a subtle glow to it, hard to distinguish under the sunlight, and it appeared to... hum? He held the key toward the door, toward a lock that wouldn't even fit it, and then... pushed the key in like it was meant to be there. He slowly turned it, the crystal glowing and humming a little brighter and louder until there was an audible click. He pushed the door and it opened inward. No cleaning supplies. He barely turned his head to look at the griffon before stepping into near-pitch blackness, except for spots of illumination, particularly in the centre of... what? He approached the middle, his foreleg reaching for something, barely lit by the natural sunlight leaking into the... shed? The stallion's foreleg pulled down, and the clicks and whirs of a lever were heard as the room lit up. The floor was a mixture of wooden panels and hardy metal. The walls and ceiling were the same, encompassing a room that definitely didn't fit inside such a small shed. The room hummed and droned, and the air felt warm and electric. It was illuminated by lamps, but the star of the show was what was at the core of the room. There was a large cylindrical container with windows wrapped around it. Behind the thick glass was a flowing and pulsating mass of what appeared to be magic, intense and barely contained. Its light was what really lit up the room. The stallion was at a console with many different buttons and levers. One of them to show off with, apparently. Parley's tail happily swayed. "It's not the shed." He said. "It's just a shed." He continued and lifted the key. "I'm on a ship a little ways from town. The key lets me get there a little faster. Need a door." He explained. "This is the engine room... of sorts." He paused. "Either come inside and close the door before someone gets curious about why two creatures came into a shed together, or be on your way."
