AU Aversion...

Ok. so.. legitimate question here. What's so damn bad about giving a new AU a try? Why is everyone *obsessed* with using *only* the show style Equestria? It's actually a legitimate concern in terms of AUs. Yeah it's a familiar territory and easier to come up with ideas for... But there's a few things that I have issues with there... For one, there's literally only so much you can do with show style Equestria. You can't branch into aaaaany other fun territories or such. You have to do shit by the book, and can only use certain things... I understand that's not strictly true for everyone. Second off, its familiarity is.. actually a bad thing, imo. It serves as a trap to keep one from trying fresh worlds and such. There IS such a thing of things still being MLP related, and having nothing (or little) to do with Equestria! I'm not here saying to not do what you want or whatever. Ultimately up to you. But, seeing the drastic aversion people around here hve to even trying new things, trying new worlds? it makes me question just how healthy the roleplay side of things is here. I want to know why nobody is willing to give things a try. Like legitimately. I've gotten tired of only ever getting serious responses from the same few people. Not that those RPs aren't great. But there still needs to be variation every now and again.
