Friendship Letters

It had been a long day for Silver. Getting back into her career as a flight racer was a long process and a lot of publicity, this meant enduring interviews and tackling questions that she would not find very appealing. Alas, that is what it was if she were to become a coach or even reignite the passion of racing herself in the lower divisions of the leagues, not pleasant stuff.
These requirements to fulfil were what had her out of place. The mare at home left pacing back and forth as her mind dissected and broke down the information that she was given.
"What do you mean I don't know what happened to myself..." She mumbled, turmoil in her voice as she uttered the words, moving herself to the kitchen to get herself water. "It was my accident." and other similar statements would be said out loud in a feeble attempt to convince herself that she was still in control but, that didn't seem like the case.
A shakey hoof filling a glass directly from the tap would provide the crystal clear water, only for her to turn around and sit on the floor against the kitchen counter, the words of the reporters haunting her.
She had been informed that she had provided several stories as to what was the reason behind her ending up in hospital with broken wings. the problem stemmed from that she knew she wasn't lying yet, in the same light, didn't know what was the truth anymore. Whether it was her spiteful ex, an egotistical show of performance gone wrong, overtraining or party related were all stories that she was told that she had given. It was nauseating, spending her time on the ground able to perfectly see out each of these situations while drinking the water.
It barely calmed her down, her mind was still working double time, thoughts coming in and out of frame. Silver felt as if she was having a panic attack, anxiety riddled through her like shooting fish in a barrel. It wasn't fair. She didn't know, the public didn't know, the only ones that knew was the team that she was contracted into several years ago. Even at the time, upon asking how she ended up in hospital with her wings in pieces, she was denied information, left in the dark being told that the paperwork was being handled, only to be cut a few short months later when it was revealed that she'd no longer be able to fly the same.
Silver didn't know how long she had been curled on the floor of her kitchen when the bell to her house was rung. She lifted her head out of the resting position in her hooves to look in the direction of the crisp sound, but being unable to look through doors and walls left the pony on the other side unknown to her until they spoke up and revealed their intentions of being there.
"Silver, we heard in today's interview that you don't actually know what happened to you, do you believe the public statements that you have previously made to be true?"
Invasive and insensitive the news were, many wanted an exclusive interview later. She obviously denied them all, clearly, it didn't stop them from trying. This would bring back the deafening flood of emotion and mental weight as her thoughts silenced out the world around her. She'd drop her head back into her arms, the glass that she was previously holding falling and rolling away, spilling the water it contained.
"I don't know! I don't know! I don't know!" She choked out past the shakey laboured breaths that she mustered up while she cried.
Not all winners can believe their delusions forever.
