Squeak!
An excited Icy Creation squeals with delight. Bringing her wing up to her face, she manages an attempt at a professional tone. "Right, log start, dimensional transition experiment day..." A pause as she looks over to a nearby calendar, "Day seven hundred and sixty-two. Give or take ten." Instant doubt, "Give or take twenty, maybe. Day it's-been-a-long-time. But, but! I got a match! The light, it was beeping! BEEPING!" A squeal of excitement, and then a cough of redirection. "Anyway, I figured I should do a log before heading inside the chamber to confirm. Log end."
The door below the light opens. Well, more melts really. Made of ice, as with all of Icy's technology and infrastructure. Inside is a room with dials and buttons on the walls, and in the center... An arch. Covered in glyphs and magic, normally dormant. But now, above it shines a number, 2084. And within, is a copy of the same room Icy just walked into
Complete with it's very own Icy.
"Woah, i- wait!"
They both speak at the same time, before recognizing each-other's presence. Wings spreading in surprise, before retracting as they process.
As they get ready, chasing away the nerves, the arch subtly sparks. Five minutes, and then they move forward. Reaching a hoof, spark, eyes widening in excitement as they make contact, shimmer, excitement changing to horror as they feel ice. Crackle. Their hooves are the first to go. The magic of the portal reacting with the windigo magic on their bodies, forcing it out, petrification but with ice-
"Synced universes, of course, the first match would be the closest universe to our own, with an equal dimensional rifting in progress."
They look at each-other for a few moments, before sighing.
"We need to desync, this is creepy. Numbers on thre- why are we asking? We're us. Three, two, one..."
"2084-"
"-2932."
Thirty-two smiles, "Easy enough! And the fact we were synced at all should mean-"
"We are duplicates, of course! Mostly." Eighty-four looks up to her portal's number. Then starts pacing, "But this means that it works! And the theory was right! This is amazing, I... We?" She looks to Thirty-Two.
Nodding, "We, we never expected anything from this experiment. Why else would the-"
"Alert system be so underwhelming? The silly little 'Beep Beep Beep', it shou- oh..."
They look at each-other, before nodding.
"Eighty-four."
"Thirty-Two."
"That's going to get annoying. Should we do the passage test and then-"
"Go make individual experiences so we stop syncing next time? Definitely."
They both move their wings back to logging position. "It's so amazing, it actually worked! I have contact with another universe! And another me! And wow I sound adorable when I'm excited!" A pause, collecting their thoughts, "Anyway, passage test. Seeing if it's a portal, not just a window. If we can touch each-other, that should be good enough. Log end."
Two screams of terror and pain, and then one as the portal deteriorates.
"My le-fuck!- no, no, language! Why the fuck do I care my leg is turning into ice!!?" Her pain screams almost as loud as she does, though the petrification stops where her leg meets her body. "I... Ng, I need... Fucking... Leg..." she limps out of the chamber on three legs, not bothering to close the door behind her.
Her day has officially been ruined. At least her prosthetic tech will get some testing.

This was way shorter than I thought while writing it, and it kind of suffers for it. I'm not going to bother extending it, longer lore posts will have to wait till I get access to a computer again.
