View MoreLeon slowly walked his way up to the door leading to the holding cells, dressed in his usual clothes, a measured look on his face as he slowly gripped the handle, pausing for a moment before taking a deep breath and calming himself. The stallion had learned from Diana that Artemis had been taken over by something, he'd guessed as much from the fact he'd been awoken by a code blue but hearing the confirmation from someone else confirming his suspicions had left him somewhat at ease, although he couldn't shake the feeling that whatever was down there was something he would not be ready for. He took a few deep breaths, steadying himself as he did. Whatever this thing was inside of the former King, he had to make sure it didn't get to him. He had a plan in mind, not a particularly good one but he had to make sure that whatever was on the outside, Artemis was still inside. He was going to try and make him mad, get any semblance of the former King to reveal that there was still something inside that shell that was fighting for control. He had to steel himself. Leon turned the handle and let the door creak open, entering the stairwell and closing the door behind him before slowly making his way down it, his heavy, metallic footsteps echoing through the tight well as he made his way down to the bottom. Rounding the corner, he laid his eyes on Lord Somber, looking over the magically caged alicorn with a look of nothing but sheer, unparalleled disappointment in his left eye, sitting himself down on the second to last step as he studied the form before him. Even without a scan, he could tell that whatever this thing was, it had immense power radiating from it, he could feel it just in the air alone. The large stallion reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a box of cigarettes and his lighter, tapping one of the cigarettes out of the box, putting it between his pursed lips and lighting it with a single flip of the lighter, taking a long drag before puffing out a large cloud of smoke, studying the being in front of him for a few moments before taking the cigarette between his metal index and middle finger and tapping the ash onto the cold concrete floor. "Heard you took a demotion in position, went from King to Lord. How very humble of you, Artemis." He spoke mockingly, his voice monotone and cold as he looked over the former King again, studying him as he waited from a response from the creature in front of him. #rp

The stallion asked coldly, not a hint of care in his voice as he continued to study the caged monstrosity in front of him. He listened to Somber explain himself, taking in every word, every syllable as he stood up, making his way over to the edge of the cage and standing right on the other side of the barrier. "A touching story, lovely family reunion and all but I really couldn't care less about what you are. Far as I'm concerned, you're just another tyrant to be felled and you made a substantial mistake getting vicious enough to grab my attention. No, what I want to know, is if Artemis is in there and can hear me." He spoke coldly, a hint of threat passing through his voice as he looked directly into the eyes of the creature before him. "I want to know if he felt good about betraying his family. Leaving his wife to shoulder the burdens of an entire kingdom by herself. Terrifying his children into thinking they're destined to become just like him. Killing allies who would have laid down their lives for him before the thought of him asking for such a thing even concocted itself as an idea in his head, and all for what? Power? Dominion? He had nearly the whole of Equestria at his beckon call, and it wasn't enough for him? I wonder, what did it feel like to abandon those he swore he would protect until his dying breaths, to truly give in to something so..." He paused for a moment as he looked over Somber. "Unimpressive. Pathetic, even." Another moment passed before Leon looked directly into Somber's eyes again, his gaze glacial as he threw his cigarette onto the ground and snuffed it out under the sole of his shoe. "Most of all, I wonder just one thing. Did he ever love his family? Or were they just a convenient shield from the beginning?"

View MoreLeon listened intently as Somber spoke to him, a subtle, barely noticeable frown coming to his face as he took his gloves off and slipped them into his pockets, before unzipping his bomber jacket and slipping it off his arms, throwing it behind himself onto the stairs and exposing some of his cybernetics and the black, almost crystalline plate that acted as a chest plate to Somber, pressing a pair of sections on it and causing it to hiss, before slipping it off of himself and exposing his internals to the being. Inside of him was a mess, a titanium rib cage, clear pipes running every which way, transporting the bright pink neon that acted in place to his sickly, blackened heart, a strange device wrapped around it squeezing it rhythmically to keep it beating in time. The stallion put the plate down against the wall, before returning back to eye level with Somber. "You think you've got me all figured out, don't you? Think I'm not honest with myself, alright. I am a monster, I'm nothing more than a corpse, puppeteered by titanium strings, bought back from a death I couldn't possibly have avoided. I shouldn't be standing here, I shouldn't have been standing for the past twenty four years and yet, here I am in front of you. I failed my family, three metal monstrosities broke into my house back when I was still a full body, and they tore me to ribbons. I told them to run, I screamed and I pleaded for them to go out the back way even as my skin was flayed from my flesh, even as my limbs were torn from my body, even as my spine was shattered like glass, even as my chest was caved in like it was made of plaster and it wasn't enough. The damage I managed to get on those creatures with my shotgun was nothing more than token, I knew I couldn't win but I just had to buy them enough time to get out safely. I couldn't. As I drew my final breath of my full body life, I saw them being dragged away to a waiting harvester truck, screaming out for me, pleading for me to get up, to do something, anything and I couldn't." He kept looking Artemis in the eyes as he continued on. "I woke up in a hospital bed three and a half years later as you see me now, begging for them to tell me where my family was, begging them to tell me they'd been found. All I found was a token grave with their names on it and immediately following that, I was ordered to fight until I expired, to never stop tearing those machines apart until one of them finally got the better of me or I would have three micro explosives planted in my heart, my brain and my spinal rig detonated. I did as I was told and more. I was bitter, hateful, I despised the full bodies who looked at me like I was a freak, as if I had chosen this for myself, as if I had a choice in the matter as nothing more than a corpse that couldn't beg to be laid to rest. I stopped caring about civilian casualties, any amount of them were acceptable to me, I tried to justify it with platitudes of 'they shouldn't have been out past curfew', but I killed a lot of them. I didn't care how many full bodies stood between me and those metal monstrosities, they were acceptable losses to me. I am deathly honest with myself, parasite. I have no qualms with accepting what I was." He paused for a moment before looking down and shaking his head, looking back into Somber's eyes. "I've no doubt that his family loves him but that's the thing. You're not him. You're his titanium strings, you're controlling his body, his mind, his powers. They don't see you, they see him, a power mad child playing despot and using his body as the medium for it. A family's love is deep, borderline unbreakable, but it's not unconditional, especially when the one they loved is no longer recognizable to them. Diana for example, she doesn't love him anymore. I talked to her, she's been hollowed out, petrified of repeating your mistake. His mistake. She thinks she's fated to become you, she thinks she's got no other alternative in life to becoming your mirror and it's broken her. Which is precisely why I am going to do what you can't. I'm going to be a father figure to that little girl, I'm going to teach her kindness, teach her goodness, teach her to stand tall while holding her ground against monsters like you or I. You've clearly got no interest in doing it, no interest in saving her from herself, so I will take up that interest. I won't let you throw away the family Artemis always wanted in his stead. You won't have them."

Why had he been brought back, who brough... View MoreIt was a rainy summer night in Canterlot, and Leon honestly didn't know what to do with himself. Ever since he'd been woken up, he'd had nothing but questions. Why had he been brought back, who brought him back, and what was the deal with that strange, recurring dream he'd been having? It was vague, a mare enveloped in shadow kept on telling him to expect her in a strange, distorted voice, getting closer and closer as the nights went by, her features never growing more distinct or more noticeable, just this pitch black void with a pair of deep, azure cybernetics staring him down, unblinking and cold. The one last night was especially ominous, with her telling him that she had 'found him', whatever the hell that meant. Now, Leon wasn't one for believing in anything akin to premonitions, if you asked him to his face he would most likely call it superstitious hocus pocus drivel but something about it felt... Off. It was just a dream but the titan of a stallion could swear he could feel a subtle, ever so noticeable tingle in the back of his neck every time he woke up. Almost like... No, it couldn't have been, system linking between dimensional realms wasn't possible after all. As the stallion laid on his small bed, staring up blankly at the ceiling, he felt something odd. The hairs on what was left of his organic body began to prick, causing him to sit up sharply and swing his legs off the bed. That feeling, surely it couldn't be- 'WARNING. WARNING. RIFT SIGNATURE IDENTIFIED. UNIDENTIFIED INCURSION IMMINENT' flashed brightly in his cybernetic eye, the stallion jumping to his feet and getting himself dressed, pulling his jeans on, his canvas boots and finally, his bomber jacket. A sense of unease rushed over him as he took a moment to look at his old moniker emblazoned on the back of it, before zipping it up and bolting out of his room, sprinting through the halls of the castle and trying his best not to knock any guards over in the process. The signature was close, maybe a few blocks away at most but he knew whatever was coming through would be through before he made it there. He launched himself over the gates of the castle with a gargantuan leap, fully sprinting and breathing heavily as he saw the signature on his radar, a single vehicle showing up at the location of the rift, sitting there stationary, almost as if it was waiting for him. In a matter of less than a minute, the stallion had closed the distance, even if he couldn't see the vehicle he could hear it, even just idling was enough to rattle windows the closer he got to it, the only question was, was it an interceptor, or was it a drone? As the stallion rounded the corner lit up by headlights, he deployed the cannon that was holstered in the compartment in his thigh, moving to the center of the road and aiming it at the lights. "DRIVER! IDENTIFY YOURSELF!" His booming voice called out as he stood there motionless in the middle of the road, keeping his sights trained on the lights. A quick scan gave him a slight sense of relief, a life signature was detected so mercifully, it wasn't a drone. That being said, he knew full well he wasn't out of the woods yet. "LAST CHANCE! IDENTIFY YOURSELF OR BE FIRED UPON!" He yelled out at the still idling machine, his finger moving to the trigger as he steeled himself, ready to put down any potential threat that might come his way. A few more seconds passed by before the idling engine shut off, the lights of the machine no longer blinding him as he finally got to see what it was. It was an interceptor alright, armored, armed to the teeth with exposed weaponry, with metal plating and integrated sensor arrays in place of windows. What caught him off guard however, was the make and model of it. Of all of the things it could have been, it was a Porsche 930 Turbo, painted in a deep, wine red. Usually this wouldn't have caught someone by surprise, but this car, in this color, and this specification? In his old life, long, long before he had been bought back as a titanium and tungsten puppet, Leon had owned a 930 Turbo that was identical in specification to the one that sat before him. He took his eyes off the plated windows and looked down at the barcode licence plate sat on the front bumper. He didn't even need to scan it, he could recognize the pattern by memory alone. The interceptor sat before him was his old Porsche, the Porsche that he had sworn up and down was destroyed by the fire on the night of his death. Slightly rattled by the potential of this being a ruse, he kept his sights trained on the machine, hearing a soft click as the door unlatched and a creak as it slowly opened. Out of the cockpit stepped a larger than average mare wearing a mask, looking over him, seemingly stunned by what, or who she was seeing. She was dressed in much the same way as him, black jeans, a white bomber jacket and denim blue canvas boots, the mask adorning her face was identical to his, although rather than Leon's pink inverted cross, hers was adorned with a glowing, azure blue ankh. She seemed to be augmented in an almost identical way to Leon too, the cybernetics she wore being made of a strange material, almost looking like some kind of translucent, black gemstone. She had a long, flowing black mane, a peach colored coat and most worryingly to Leon, a pair of bright, azure colored cybernetic eyes. So it was a system link, he hadn't been dreaming, this mare had been tapping into him while he was sleeping and she had been able to bypass his multiple firewalls. She closed the door to the Porsche behind her slowly and began to take slow, tentative steps towards him, the stallion keeping his guard up as he trained the sights on her. Leon began to speak, holding his ground as he watched her coming closer. "What are your intentions here augmented officer? Who sent-" "It's really you..." The masked mare interrupted in a tone of disbelief, looking over the stallion before her as she slowly approached him. Her voice was wavering, and Leon couldn't help but notice that her accent was the same as his. She was from Sterling too. "All this time, all these years I've... I've-" "That's close enough." Leon spoke authoritatively, keeping his sights trained on the mare as she stopped walking towards him, stopping where she was and looking over him, her eyes brimming with tears as she began to smile a legitimately joyful smile. "I didn't call for any backup, which I assume means you've come to take me back for decommissioning. I came here to escape from that life, from that world, I did my job but there is yet more for me to do for others. If you're here to try and get me to return, you will not succee-" "You've gotten so strong... Fifteen years ago you would have shot me the moment you rounded that corner..." The mare said simply as Leon slightly cocked his head in confusion, his guard still up as she spoke. Her tone was joyous, disarming even, tears rolling down her face as she spoke softly but why was she talking as if she knew him? He couldn't recall ever seeing this mare in his life but there was something about her that was undeniably familiar to him. "...I know you don't recognize me, and I do not blame, and forgive you for that... It has been an unbelievable amount of time after all... But right now, I need to show you something... If I don't, if I just say who I am, you will think that I'm playing some kind of ruse and you will likely shoot me... Seeing is believing..." This mare, she even spoke like him, had similar mannerisms to him. Just who the hell was standing in front of him? The mare slowly reached up to the zipper on her bomber jacket, Leon tensing up somewhat as he readied himself for some kind of potential attack. She slowly unzipped her jacket halfway and pulled the left side of it open with her black, almost crystalline looking hand. In that exact moment, Leon's eyes shot wide open. For the first time in nearly twenty years, he felt anxiety and uncertainty washing over him. Right on the mare's clavicle, there was a birthmark that he couldn't mistake for anything else, it was a birthmark that he couldn't forget. Three spots, right along her clavicle, with the furthest one almost seeming to take the shape of a four pointed star. The stallion's breaths got heavier as his gun began to tremble, him looking over the birthmark in utter disbelief before looking back to the mare's cybernetic eyes, his breaths almost hitching in his throat as he slowly lowered the revolver, slipping it back into it's compartment and sealing it away in his thigh. "S-...St-............Stella?......" He asked quietly, his shaking prominent as he slowly began to walk towards the mare, tears flowing from his left eye as he picked up the pace, wrapping his arms around her tightly. He could feel that she was there, this wasn't a glitch in his system, it wasn't his arguably fractured mind playing tricks on him, she was real, she was actually there. Leon began to cry uncontrollably as he held the mare tightly, with her returning his embrace and holding him equally as tightly. "Oh God, what did they do to you?..." He asked through his tears, holding her close to him as the rain poured down on them both. "...Not enough to break me, it would seem..."
